Ive always been an ATI fan since the 9600 series and up but then i got forced to use Nvidea cause of price to performance.
I then bought a 4850 cause i saw tomshardware review and i was so happy that ATI is finally going for tops again. And now with there 4870 X2 im like to dam excited I screened when i read the review ... yes i did lol

Now finally ATI has taken back there rightful spot on the G-card war, the top. :)

Great card if you have a 27+ inch screen to use the cards full potential power. I hope ATI works out their drivers, thats their main issue, great speced out cards but poor drivers, they do that they'll win. Now i'm curious if Nvidia is gonna release like a GTX 280x2 or something. That 280 is not bad for just a single GPU, it put up a fight in some of the tests.

Moving from an 8800gtx to the 4870x2 I notice more effects in Vista, better image quality in moves (their upstream thing is just a wii bit better), and more fluidity in windows. I have not had time to really put it through any games as I ran into HD issues after installing.... but that was not releated to the videocard.... I was just being dumb :(.

Well, I think with RV 870 wich has half size than RV 770 Ati will set the new dual core GPU RV 870 in single packet. I Hope that's true because I have read other news said that dual RV 870 or RV 800 don't have brigde, I just think it will be in a single socket, and if that's true I hope we will not found Ati HD 5870 X2 but Ati HD 5900 or HD 5950, come back like X 1900 or HD 2900 series...

I wanna see somebody crush KINGPIN in 3DMarks using these card. May it be in a single set-up or crossfireX. Gamers who will buy this product is a casual gamer not hardcore. 1GB GDDR5 256-bit times 2 since it's a dual gpu, that's gonna stutter like hell!!!! 256-bit HA HA....

Stutter or not, it’s still faster than the GTX280 on average.

It’s all about what resolution you play at and what you are going to use it for. Although there are going to be slight delays with the crossfire compatibilities, so far it isn’t bad.

I wouldn't knock the 256bit interface, it cranks out more Terra Flops than the GTX280, and I think it has more bandwidth than the GTX280. The micro stutter issue should be resolved at this point. The changes made to the 4870x2 from the 3870x2 were significant. Also, if issue such as micro stuttering do occur or whatever to slow down the GPUs, the will open up the link port to allow high bandwidth flow between the 2 GPUs.

Sadly, it is currently disabled due to low gains in performance for current applications. The future may hold a need for this, but time will tell.

How is the GTX280 doing in fabrication? That 512bit interface and enormously large core is really messing up the production gains for them.

(sorry, I guess I just have to justify these cards to myself. After all, I own one.)

I'm not satisfied with the overclocking section and the statement that "you'll have to accept that you are already running the fastest card out". That makes absolutely no sense as a response to the fact that it SLOWED down when overclocked. Why would ANYTHING give LESS performance when overclocked? Was it throttling from heat? Are there driver issues? Why not look into a REAL reason for this as this is an extremely odd outcome in the overclocking world.

Not really sure if this is the place to post this, but it regards something I noticed in these comparisons. I'm looking for a card primarily to boost Flight Simulator and saw in the FSX tests there are significantly improved framerates from the GTX 280 card over any of the previous tests I've seen on this site. Is this the result of a driver update and are there comparable results for the GTX 260 (somewhere in the range of 27-28 fps)? I'm looking for a good upgrade card primarily for FSX with a littl bit of headroom. If a new driver allowed it to keep up with the 9800 GTXs on that program, I'd rather go with it. Anyone got any details?

[citation][nom]Vorador_21[/nom]Dear nickchalk,Thank you for your comment. I hope that someone care for shopping, because here we evaluate the newest cards and show to each other its advantages and disadvantages. I wonder if you buy a new and powerfull video card shall you play under 4AA/4AF without other options or you will want more? Anyway you were useful to me, so I thank you.Two questions to all of you people - is anyone capable to perform something under resolution 1920x1080 or 2560x1600? And which program or game exactly do you use under such resolution?[/citation]

firs of all i don't understand the reason why you speak(type) like this.
it must be the high level of your education or something. so i would like to ask you some questions.(to know us better)
1.why one has the money to buy this card, wants to use it whith an AMD cpu-motherboard?when using an intel 8400-8500 with g31-g33-p35-p45-x38-x48 motherboard will give +10% better performance to every game you play.
2.why one buys this card and wants to game with it using 8AA/16AF when this card is able of 24AA/16AF at resolutions 1920x1080?
3.why all the kids like you who played 5 games think they know everything
and start going to sites having such demands and speaking like they are the audience that deserves to be heard and that their way of doing things is the only wright way?

look at your hand, all your fingers have the same size?
really i still do not understand why i have to know the way you live your life, the way you do your shopping and the resolution you are playing your games.

go to firing squad and see for your self.
