Hello,
Can an AMI bios that has no mentioning of TPM get TPM capabilities by actually updating the BIOS?
And if yes, how can I get a BIOS rom for my miniPC?
This is not a brand name PC. Rather the chinese no name kind. My bios says APTIO and I have the version and date but I couldn't find anything on the net.

Solution
No, updating the BIOS will not add TPM capability.

A TPM is a hardware device, the motherboard must have a TMP socket to plug a TPM in to.

It's very unlikely your MiniPC (Asus?) will have a TPM socket.
That's not entirely the case is it?

Many modern processors have fTPM's built-in but as I understand many system BIOS' didn't expose the settings because mfr's considered them to be a premium feature to add value only on up-market models. With the current security concerns, and pending release of Win 11 that currently needs it, I'd hope many of those systems might find BIOS updates that expose the setting.

True, it's an fTPM but it works the same and has virtually all the functionality of a plug-in TPM module. In fact, I'm...
