Quite a few. Studies have shown that overclockers have substantially lower life expectancy.

Is overclocking really worth dieing young? :kaola: 😗

I forgot about the minutes, thanks for reminding me.

No problem. I am currently conducting some experiments which employ the short wavelength of neutrons to examine a CPU on the nano scale for when and where defects occur due to excessive overclocking over long periods. I should be able to calculate it to within 4 nanoseconds of the actual hardware failure with current technology. When the neutron scatter equipment at ANSTO is finished, I should be able to get it to within 0.2 nanoseconds (that is, 200 picoseconds). Not quite good enough for my tastes, but that is all that is available to me at the moment 🙁

Hey, I was only off 5 months, 26 days, and 23:43. Not too shabby I'd say. But to abate these little errors I'll be keeping my eye on Amazon awaiting that book. 😀

Back when the FIRST article from toms came out with this info I had 3 computer with D 805s 2 of which were OC'd to 3.6 with air and the third I could get to 4.0 with water cooling. + nice custom heaters for the winter as well

Ok, I've been out of the OC game for a while, this article inspired me to try again.

I went with a Gigabyte G33M-S2H board because of the HDMI port.

In the MIT section of the BIOS I can change my FSB, but the Memory clock seems to be locked to it. I can go as hight as 266 and this automagically adjusts the memory to 1064, which locks my system, I manually set the memory multiplier to 3.33 (I can choose auto, 3.33, and 4) which ~ 888 for the memory. This gives me 2.4 on the CPU (which runs nice)

Is this a limitation of my board, or am I missing something.

Thanks.

Don't forget to press ctrl-F1 to access the advanced options.

EDIT: Oops, that's only for timings, nvm. Make sure the PCI express frequency is set to 100MHz. For the System Memory Multiplier you should be able to go as low as 2.00 (1:1 FSB : DRAM)

sorry i dont know what planet you are on maybe from the planet "i cant read the graphical chart"

the review article showing the Pentium Dual-Core above the X2 6000+ by a very small margin, and the X2-6000 has a green background colour which indicates the chip is NOT overclocked.

Also i failed to find 1 single gaming benchmark showing the o/c E2140 is above the E6850 like you mentioned even at 3.5GHz.

Only slight advantage on applications due to the 400-500MHz over the E6850

if you dont call yourself a "fanboy" then i dont know what fanboy is!

A huge smack to the face! And the E2160 is only at 3.33Ghz!

If anything, you're a fanboy. Zen's a factboy.

Hi all,I recently got a new computer with a pentium dual-core at 2.0 ghz with vista ultimate. When I try to overclock it,even at 2.10 ghz,it fails shuts down, and restarts with the default settings.(Actually at 2.10 it froze at the vista loading screen)Any help here guys?

Some of us need to buy AMD becuase if amd goes down than there will be no competition and intel can raise their prices as high as they want

The PSU is one thing you cannot skimp on. I always buy decent $99 PSU's, even if I get one at a sale price at Fry's for around $59 to $79. Budget or not, a bad PSU can ruin a good system.

i use one of these, and i think some ppl who are buying lower end i3s for the same money that the pentium costs is ridiculous. also i just researched, only 3/8 can do better, and the best is still around $150[$70 dollars more!]. people think just because tech is newer it is better. sometimes this is true but not always.

[ i also found out that the most expensive is the Intel® Core™ i3-4110E Processor (3M Cache, 2.60 GHz) at $225
WTF???
