another dilemma

Ok, I have decided to go with the Ati 800 XL.

The bad: it's minimum wattage is 300W(the 6600GT was 350watts)

My Dell 8100 is only 250W and it's proprietary which sucks.

I would like to get a new system but thats out of the question for now.

I have a DVD burner and a CD-RW drive.

If remove the CD-RW and I use the power from the CD-RW to power the vid Card will I be OK?

Or am I gambling?

Gambling. No need to buy a new system, get a new power supply for $50.

Yep. New power supply is the way to go for sure.

Try to get a good name brand, a name brand 350w is better than a generic 500w in most cases...
