I am getting a computer together for a friend, so are there any quirks to this board, or are they just awesome...

Every board has quirks but the NF7 is about as quirk-free as you will come across.A great board in my experience.Built a couple of systems for friends with them and never had any problems.Go for it.

no matter how hard you try, you can't polish a turd. :]

ABIT AN7 is not better than NF7-S v2.0. I haven't heard that it's inferior, but I would go for NF7-S v2.0 (unless only AN7 is available) since it's more mature and proved very reliable.

The board slightly overvolts the memory, slightly undervolts the CPU, and some multipliers just under 11 don't work right at an FSB greater than 220MHz and CPU Interface enabled. Those are the only well documented issues and they aren't even problems for 99.9% of people.

Thanks guys... I may not even overclock it that much... for if there is any problem, I will likely be the one going over to fix it...

One last thing: with the latest BIOS, when doing a cold boot your CPU temp will be ~6C higher than after a reboot. Also, my clock used to speed up until I flashed to BIOS 22. It would gain around 1 min per day. That was annoying.

Abit makes the best nForce2 boards, IMO. Abit or DFI.
