We've all played Black & White, Quake III, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life, Deux Ex, etc. Anyone have any games that have been over looked that are actually fun and enjoyable games?

Giants. I'm sure you've heard about it- but the multiplayer part is awesome. The graphics are great too. It got some bad reviews due to bugs- but the latestest patches fix them.

Well, I am the lamer gamer, but I've been playing Clive Barker's Undying. Pretty cool if you ask me, but then I'm a horror movie and Clive Barker fan, so I'm sort of biased! The only problem is the developers used a variation of the Unreal engine, and it seems to choke the frame rates in different places (i.e. I consistantly get approx 80-90 fps in QIIIArena, but have had Undying slow to 19-20fps at times and averaging 35-40! Arrg!)

Anything from the Fallout Series. Most recently I played The Longest Journey, pretty good game in my opinion. It's one of those great games where you dont die and have to restart your saved games every time you screw up. Awesome story as well.

Blah, Blah Blahh, Blahh, blahh blah blahh, blah blah.

everquest! Also know as evercrack

The only reason you don't hear people talk about it more is because they play it 24/7.

You have to pay to play online but so damn additive.

It is a role-playing game that you interact with the environment. The object of the game is to level up. You gain experience by killing monsters or doing quests for objects.

That game is annoyingly addictive. I played it for 15 months and when I left I was extremely pissed off and angry. You should never get pissed off and angry while playing a video game. When games like that give you angst they should be left alone. Everquest is all about greed. All you do is aquire items now. There is no Roleplaying factor to it at all. If you even make a attempt at it people flat out wont understand where you are coming from. The game is tailored to those people who can sit for 3-5 hours a day to play. It is impossible to have a 1 hour sitting on that game and get anything useful done. However you will enjoy Everquest initially, but when you leave the game, it will leave a bitter taste in your mouth.

Blah, Blah Blahh, Blahh, blahh blah blahh, blah blah.

I thought this forum is for "sleeper" games... I do believe everquest is considerably popular

Check out Vampire: The Masquerade... This is my personal all time favorite game (and you can aquire it for $20-$30). Also, check out Warlords Battlecry. I noticed this isn't part of your familiar genre but its an rps... real time role playing strategy. Its not 3d but it is similar to what warcraft 3 will be in the future.

"I played it for 15 months and when I left I was extremely pissed off and angry."
I have been playing for 6 months and never been pissed at it once. You know what it is only a game.

"Everquest is all about greed."
It's what YOU make of the game. I have meet some pretty fun and enjoyable people in this game. We have so much fun grouping up and exploreing the the meny areas of the game.

"The game is tailored to those people who can sit for 3-5 hours a day to play. It is impossible to have a 1 hour sitting on that game and get anything useful done."
This is true but what you expect everthing handed to you in 5 mins? The game was made to play like real time you have to earn what you get.

You should be able to sit down for an hour and play a game and actually accomplish something. Your at 6 months, give it another couple of months. I absolutely loved the game in the beginning. Eventually I stayed due to the friends I had made or followed from other MUD's. Everquest is popular by default. It's the only game of it's kind out right now and it is pretty good but it's horribly flawed. PVP is a joke, who the hell wants to lose some item they had to camp for 10 hours. The higher levels of the game require you to raid the planes. No matter who your with Planar raids are flat out boring and long. Anyway I could go on forever but I'll shut up. I apologize for jumping all over your post as well. It's just some old pent up frustration.

Anyways Everquest could be viewed as a sleeper even due to it's popularity. Many people wont try a game in that genre, and could be pleasantly suprised.

Blah, Blah Blahh, Blahh, blahh blah blahh, blah blah.

Shogun - Total War. Maybe not too "sleeper," but I have found it to be the most enjoyable combination of real-time TACTICS and "conquer the land" turn-based strategy I have ever played. The real-time part is combat only-so you don't waste your time managing resources. Plus, it's only ~$20 right now (b/c there is a "Mongol Invasion" edition coming out.) If you get it, BE SURTE to d/l the patch.

I agree! The worms games all rock. We played Armaggedon in the dorms, and you could hear the reactions down the hall. It was always really funny, because even on the LAN there was usually a 2 second delay, so you could hear the attacker cackle in delight as he threw a Holy Hand Grenade, and then the scream of pain about 2 seconds later down the hall, LOL.
