Hi!!

I've been dealing with this issue for some months now... sometimes all of my apps stop having sound (Mozilla, VLC, games, discord, anything)... but Windows still sounds. It gets fixed easily, simply ending user session and coming back again fixes it. I've reinstalled Windows, I've changed the motherboard and CPU (for different reasons), ran the command lines to fix Windows and it still happens... every now and then; not even all days.

It has nothing to do with my default audio devices (i've all disabled except headphones and speakers). I'm simply a bit at lost here. I find it too random sicne It didn't get solved while reinstalling Windows from zero.

My system is running Windows 11 PRO, version 10.0.26.100.
(Not listing motherboard/CPU since it was happening with two different sets. I also had the Logitech G hub software for my headphones before reinstalling and I dont have it now so again probably not a factor)

Any clues are appreciated, thanks :')

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information for both installed motherboards and CPUs.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used)?

Disk drive(s): make, model, capacity, how full?

List of all connected peripherals.

Wired or wireless network?

= = = =

Does the problem occur if the system is booted into Safe Mode?

Look in Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer for any error codes, warnings, or even informational events being logged just before or at the times that the apps stop having sound.

Are there any other applications, utilities, drivers installed?

My thought is that there is some third party app, utility or driver being launched at startup or later triggered via Task Scheduler. I.e. software common to both systems.
