Sorry, but I disagree with your comparison.
Mercedes and BMW actually MANUFACTURE their products( Benz even invented Gasoline and Diesel Engines); Apple -like Nike- is only a marketing company. They do not 'make' anything and half their ideas are 'inspired' by other companies. Like the 'mouse' or 'windows and icons'.

Everyone is praising the innovative Retina display; well... it is made by Samsung, not Apple.
Apple just ordered a bunch and ask Foxconn to install them.
I bet Dell and HP would follow; they just do not have the customer base that would accept a tablet that would be more expensive than the bargain $199 Kindle type they expect.

Car analogy... Anti lock brakes, Air bags, Power Windows, A/C, CD players... all came first only in the high end luxury brands. Than over time it filtered down to the bargain basement models of Hyundai or Ford (no offense !!).

Some of us have always backed up our beliefs (like "Made in USA") our own wallets and still do! For us the cost has never been an issue until after moral conditions have been applied! Sure a higher or even much higher price is a burden. I'm not rich! But ask your selves this, HOW MUCH WILL YOU BE ABLE TO AFFORD WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE A JOB!! AND IF YOU CAN SLEEP WELL AT NIGHT WHEN THE COMPANY'S YOU SUPPORT ABUSE THEIR EMPLOYEES, YOU ARE JUST AS MUCH TO BLAME!!!
