Whats the use of all that innovation if you never spend it?

It seems I didn't quite know the meaning of innovate.
Innovation is the development of new values through solutions that meet new needs, inarticulate needs, or old customer and market needs in value adding new ways. This is accomplished through more effective products, processes, services, technologies, or ideas that are readily available to markets, governments, and society. Innovation differs from invention in that innovation refers to the use of a better and, as a result, novel idea or method, whereas invention refers more directly to the creation of the idea or method itself. Innovation differs from improvement in that innovation refers to the notion of doing something different (Lat. innovare: "to change") rather than doing the same thing better.

With that meaning, his claim makes more sense.

That's a bold statement. Especially since Apple hasn't sold anything fundamentally new for a long time. Their devices are great, but I think they bank too much on all their little patents.

[citation][nom]sacre[/nom]Yet phones interface, design and customizability all remained the same for the past 3 years. The iPad remained the same in terms of designThe iPad mini is just a small version of the same design.I fail to see innovation, Apple, I really do. Nothings changed.. My iPhone is as boring as it was since I got it, I can't customize, I can't transfer files, i've changed my computer and now I can't transfer my songs I have to use some third party App.. Its smooth, fast, responsive and doesn't crash or go choppy on me, i'll give ya that. But god damn I feel i'm just borrowing this phone. Innovation, no.[/citation]

Their marketing techniques are certainly innovative. How they get people to spend $70 on a flimsy little iPad cover is quite beyond me.

As far as their actual products go, all they do is release a new iPod nano every other month that's a little smaller and update their iPads so you can play Angry Birds in higher resolution. Dear lord people are ignorant to buy Apple stuff.

few things i like about apple (or the ios), their UI is smooth, it rarely chokes.
and they tend to make attractive looking products.

and man, their marketing is really good. those words, magical, life changing, don' know what they want bs. and people fall for it every time.

they do know how to sell, tablets were not well known until the ipad. but innovative? hell no

Steve Jobs didn't innovate much, Tim Cook is not going to put anything new on the table.

These are guys belonging to the company that tries to patent the most basic concepts to monopolize the market and prevent competition from springing up to show something in the areas that really crave for innovation.
I mean, they patented a rectangular case with round corners, and everyone trying to slightly take hold of that notion is going to be sued - Yet everything inside not to mention the firmware is entirely unrelated and often times superior (Call me what you want, butI haven't see anything done on Android that's not on level or better off than iOS, save the few features that are often pointless. It doesn't need to be half as restricive... it's all that I'd call innovation).

I don't know. If you need to come to public boasting about your own company, it's sign someone is losing confidence on you - If it'll help? Well, I'm sure some people are simple minded enough... they just have too much money.

Did they say, they're innovative in technology? No.
It's hard to argue, they're innovative in marketing though.

Just had a good laugh reading the article and the comments. Also the videos posted by users are great :)).
I just wonder is apple ceo reads the comments and is laughing with us :)))))))))) .

[citation][nom]JJ1217[/nom]what.. having a slightly bigger screen can be considered innovation now?[/citation]

No, A Tablet that becomes a Cellphone or Laptop is...

The only company I have seen that did try to innovate was Asus...

They have been selling the Transformer back then before the Surface and those other Convertibles ever came out...

And then came the PadFone...

Samsung is trying to innovate... but they are like BMW... cool concepts and no actual products

Quote from article..."He stressed that there is no given formula for innovation, and if there ever were one, wealthy firms would utilize their cash piles to acquire it."

OMG HE WANTS TO PATENT THE INNOVATION PROCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seeing bragging people about Apple`s finances just shows how idiots are isheep guys, it just sounds like:
Look here Samsung/LG/Google/etc supporters, we apple fans are so stupid we gave all our money to Apple so we can brag that other guys not have s**t loads of money while we have a shiny white rounded rectagle, IN YOUR FACE ANDROID lovers! :))

yah right ... after one year they were able to add half an inch to the iPhone and call it the biggest change

[citation][nom]wardoc22[/nom]Not an apple fan, but if you feel like your customization is lacking, jailbreak it?[/citation]
which is now illegal in the United States...
