Question Archer VR400 v2 syslog remote save problem

Hi, I'm having WAN connectivity problems with my Archer VR400 v2 vdsl/adsl router.

Unfortunately this problem involves DSL drop out but neither the Telecomms company who provide a VDSL "fibre to the pole" connection and the ISP want to accept responsibility for it. It is becoming more frequent and I need to collect the technical data in order to get things sorted. Unfortunately, whenever I reboot the router, it deletes the previous syslog (SL) contents. The router firmware & software are shows as up to date.

To preserve the chronological SL history I'm trying to save each SL instance to a syslog server (SLS) on a LAN pc (Win 10 64bit).. I've set the router SL to remote-save (with the SLS IP address and port 514) and I've tried several (free) SLS's on the PC but have been unable to receive any input when I do a save-log on the router.

I've run a Wireshark packet capture for each save but have found neither UDP or TCP syslog transactions from the router.
The odd thing is that, even though I've not enabled a local-save on the router, whenever I do a save it performs a local-save instead.

Any help with this would be most appreciated

[Do verify that I found the applicable manual.]

Question:

Is there a DSL splitter (filter) installed?

Should be located somewhere after where the ISP cable connection enters the premises.

Splits the incoming cable into two outputs: one output to telephone system and the second output to the Archer VR400.

Reference physically numbered Page 6.

Splitters are often cheaply made and can be problematic. I would start by replacing the splitter.

Could be a problem cable as well.
