Hello Everyone,

I recently got a CyberPowerPC Gamer Master Gaming PC - Black (AMD Ryzen 7 8700F/16GB RAM/2TB SSD/NVIDIA RTX 4060/Win11) and I'm having issues with it running one of my games. When I try to open it (I've tried the EA Launcher, the Origin Launcher, and even a torrent) I get a "Preparing Game" indication, the screen goes black, and then crashes back to either the launcher or just the desktop.

I've checked both the Event Viewer and the Reliability Monitor, but it seems the system doesn't even register a crash. I've also tried to run the game on every compatibility setting to no avail. The game is from 2008, and didn't have high requirements even then. Other games from around that time work fine.

Any ideas?

if you're only having issue with a single game out of multiple,
then it is the game and not the system causing the issue(s).

make sure to verify game integrity through whatever provider you've purchased it from.
also make sure to install any available redistributables from any available game folder, usually included in "Redist" or "common redist".

The game seems to verify fine.

I've found the Redist folder which has a VDF File titled "installscript". The default program to open it seems to be Notepad, which also opens the ReadMe.txt for the game. Do I copy and paste the text from "installscript" there?

Can you list the name of the game. That would help if one of us that has been there done that to fix the game.

The only place I found it that yes it does say for PC.

Also use windows capability tool to choose the game to run on xp SP-3. Right click the .exe for the game and there should be the combability tool. Choose the program worked on older OS and go from there.

Also the 32 bit download is the x86 link.

I've tried both the 64 and 32 bit downloads and it's giving me the same crashing to the origin page.

Compatibility doesn't seem to change anything. Is there something else I need to do with the redistribution files?

If you talking about them downloading check your download folder. When you hit the down load link it should kind of blink but stays on the same page but the downloads happen.

They've downloaded.

I'm confused about the DXSETUP file which was included with the game. The install wizard says the components are ready for use, but nothing seems to have changed. In the "installscript" vdf file after dxsetup it mentions "kvsignatures", but I cam't find anything by the name in the files.

does this particular game list that it only operates on specific Operating Systems?
if so, and you are not on one of those, that could very well be your issue.

I know it was made to run on 7 and xp, but I also know it runs on other ones because it ran fine on my old computer which had 10, and other people in this game's community have been able to make it run just by altering compatibility.
