Arctic Silver on chip surface

Will a little bit of Arctic Silver on the surface of my AMD TBird cause any problems? It's right next to the core, and not touching any bridges or anything else.

Its fine if it's not touching anything. If it was it might not even matter. You need to be sure that it's not shorting the resistors too. Just remove some of it with a klenex or something. If it's caught in the pins of a resistor and you can't get it out, use a bit of varsol or some other alcohol based solvent like that and then wipe it out (wait for it to dry before plugging the cpu back in). I've doused my processor in solvents and it hasn't had any negative repurcussions. :)

Connie,
Just an FYI. Unlike some other thermal compounds, Artic Silver is a bit conductive because it contains suspended silver. It can cause problems if it gets somewhere it should not, especially on the L1 bridges of the processor or god forbid actually in the socket (yes, someone actually did that :-o!). But with a little care, it's good stuff.
