Question Are display port to hdmi cables bidirectional?

I have a Dell monitor E2016H and Lenovo ThinkPad T480s.
Monitor has VGA and Display port input.
Laptop has HDMI out. (It also has thunderbolt and USB3 which I use for charging)

I want to know how can I connect this monitor as second screen to my laptop.
When I searched Amazon India for HDMI to Display Port cable, what I got is tons of Display port to HDMI cables:

But no HDMI to Display Port cable.

is the highest rated one by Amazon Basics.

Will it work for me?

If not why there is no HDMI to Display Port cable at all. Or I am lacking search skills?

quite possibly, Unlike dvi to hdmi, hdmi to dp requires converting the signal into a bitstream which requires computation, and would not necessarily be automatic if the signal is reversed i.e. deconstructing the bitstream into a more parallel style format.

Then which cable I am supposed to buy?

Searching HDMI to DP on Amazon India gives only DP to HDMI cable!!! But not a single HDMI to DP.

Buts its hdmi male to dp female..

I found similar adapter on amazon india: https://www.amazon.in/StarTech-com-HDMI-DisplayPort-Converter-Adapter/dp/B0144NS4Z6

But its just too costly. I can buy 16 GB RAM in same cost.

Surprising that solution is difficult to find.

Now I feel I should find hdmi male to vga male. But even this is not available on amazon.in. There are some but with no reviews / ratings.
