Are these 3DMark Vantage scores normal? GTX 260

Hi,

I am just getting into PC gaming and I am running some 3DMark Vantage tests on my comp. I am new to GPU performance, but not PC performance. I just bought a GTX 260 Core 216. Here is the complete system...

GTX 260 at stock clock speeds(626/1349/1053)
3DMark Score: 12214
GPU Score: 9970
CPU Score: 37616
GPU Test 1: 30.09 FPS
GPU Test 2: 28.29
CPU Test 1: 1567.22 PLANS/S
CPU Test 2: 141.21 STEPS/S

This seems low. Thoughts? I also have no idea what settings to use in the nVidia control panel

You ahve to specify which test set you ran. X? P?

Those seem quite exceptional for the stock performance suite.

Seems fine i have similar setup to yours but with 2 gtx20 sli getting 19,000+

The test was performance.

It's confusing though because I submit my results online, and it looks like I am performing horribly.

Well.. there are people online that perform a vantage run with an i7 on liquid nitrogen at 5ghz and their 260 clocked comaprable to a 285.. Assuming yuo are even comaparing to similar systems.. The "highest score" sysems are beyond insane.

You really can not compare your results to others in the system unless you are doing it for a living.

I just bumped up the core clock and shader a little and got this score...

Your scores are fine. Unless you do very creative things (liquid helium?) with the idea of running a single vantage run then crashing, you will never compete with the top of the score chart. For clsoe to stock your scores are great.

By the way, I found an overclocking guide. I spent several hours yesterday with different configurations. This seems to be the most stable, runs cool enough, and looks great...

I am considering testing my CPU at 3.6Ghz. Do you think its worth it to improve gaming performance? My CPU runs really cool at 3.2 so it could handle a little extra voltage. If it got warm I'd drop is back to 3.2Ghz.

Also, what about the settings in the nVidia control panel. AA, AF, etc.

You are not going to see any improve in gaming performance so do not bother OC you q6600 to 3.6. I OC my q6600 from 3.2GHz – 3.5GHz and the performance differences was close to nothing.
