as the title asks are these parts compatible? I'm building a gaming PC from scratch and i'm pretty new at this. If there are any recommendations on the PSU as I don't have one yet or on the specs, all would be appreciated.

Those components should work OK for you. You will need a Pro version or higher of windows to install more than 16GB of memory. Plus you will have to set up the drive with a GPT format instead of the normal MBR type. Over 2TB requires a GPT type formatted drive.

A new Z97 MB and the best CPU that you can install in it plus the fast memory and 32GB's of it. The GTX 970 GPU is really decent too. I have one and am impressed with it.

Another thought, you will probably have to OC the CPU some to get the full 2400MHz out of your memory. Have fun!
