Asrock K8Upgrade-VM800 SATA HDD not showing. Only optical drive on SATA

This motherboard does not see my SATA HDDs. The optical DVD multi writer is seen, but the HDDS not. They are around 200 Gb size. Any ideas?

Shut your computer down ans switch SATA ports. Plug the HDD into the SATA port your DVD writer is currently plugged into. This will tell you if the problem is with the SATA port or the HDD.

Swapping the SATA connectors did not work. The IDE CD drive does not show on POST, however it only boots from that one. The DVD (which is SATA) does show on POST but does not boot from it.
IDE HDD shows and works, but SATA HDD nothing. Just the DVD.

1. What operating system are you using?
2. In the BIOS do you have "SATA Operation Mode" set to non-RAID?

SATA Operation Mode
Use this item to adjust SATA Operation Mode. The default value of this
option is [RAID]. If you don’t want to operate RAID function on SATA HDDs,
please select [non-RAID]
