Question Asrock x299 Taichi PCIe slot disabling?

Hello,

I'm having an issue with my Asrock x299 Taichi [Manual].

I got it a week ago and have so far attempted to use its sole PCIe 2.0 slot (in the manual listed as PCIE-4) for a 1394a firewire card and for a Slate VRS8 audio interface card.

In both instances, when any interface is plugged into either card and powered on, either Windows will freeze entirely a few seconds after logging in (if Windows is booting), or Windows will fail to recognize the interface in any way (if Windows is already loaded).

My build is pretty full of hardware items (see here), but I don't see anything in the manual about any other hardware disabling the PCIE-4 slot.

Does anyone have any insight or advice on this? Appreciate it.

Hi @Lutfij, thank you for your reply.

For BIOS, I haven't changed it since opening the mobo, but I will update you with the specific version as soon as I can check for myself.

Regarding the rest; I do have a discrete GPU installed, a GTX 1060 in PCIE-1. When you say the "PCIe x1 slot derives its lanes from the chipset" - what does this mean exactly? Is there a conflict between the GPU in PCIE-1 and the Slate card in PCIE-4?
