I recently purchased a WD_BLACK sn770 TB gen 4 and after I put it into my mobo (Asrock z370 extreme4 ) in the M2_2 slot, it didn’t detect it in bios nor in disk management. Is this ssd not compatible? Would buying a pcie NVMe adapter fix help make it detect ? I currently have a crucial p3 plus m.2 NVMe 500 gb as my boot drive and is in the M2_1 slot working fine.

My specs if needed
RTX 2060
I7-8700k
16 gb ram 3200mhz

So, check if you don't have SATA drive plugged into slot 4 or 5.

Also, you could move your Crucial drive to M2_2 slot and look if it works there.
I don’t have anything sata in my computer and in bios it says N/A for all the SATAs with only m2_1 having a name which is my crucial. I will check to see if crucial works in m2_2

This will tell, if either:
* The M2_2 slot is dead.
* Your WD drive is dead.
Hopefully the WD drive isn’t dead since I bought it from Best Buy 4 days ago. Also I saw online that a dude had the same problem and he contacted asrock support and they said it was a compatibility issue and he fixed it but buying a pcie nvme adapter.

If the drive is DOA, it has warranty. Essentially the sole reason why it has warranty.

Well, using PCI-E -> M.2 adapter can work, but your drive and MoBo are compatible.
