I thought the US release was today? Anyone know any other news about it? I can't find anything that says it's not today, yet nobody seems to have it yet. How many of you guys plan to get it? I think my plan is to give it a few days, and find a review on the performance of it online somewhere (hopefully at Toms, hint hint 😉). It looks like it'll take a beast of a system to run it.

Thanks

nah, I don't think so, recommended specs are a core 2 duo at 2 ghz, and 1 gig of ram on xp. Plus I have an 8800 gts 640, that is able to play crysis very high at 1920 by 1200.... so I think it will run quite well on moderate systems... btw my system was only 800 =P (granted I had a case and monitor, keyboard, mouse, headphones, fancy usb thingys... no jk)

You lie

Yeah, you shouldn't have much trouble running a game like assasin's creed, which is a console port. People get hyped up about what they need to game on the pc, but that is largely because consumers have had such a horrendous experience going out and buying games like call of duty 4 and then trying to run them on their dell with integrated graphics. People get their panties in a wad about how bad crysis performance is, and how it still can't really be maxed out by any typical hardware. But crysis still looks great at medium settings, people are just disappointed that their pcs can't max it out.

Long story short, you should be able to fully enjoy assasins creed with even a moderate pc.

Lol thanks for the replies guys, but the performance is kinda beside the point, the question was more about the availability of the game, know anything about that?

Thanks for easing my worries about the performance though. 😀

you lie - if you said "high" not "very high" i would believe you (unless that 8800gts has a 2000000% overclock 😛)

The release date was April 8th, though I have no clue if that means its out at most vendors. I read yesterday that Best Buy had it in stock. Here in Canada, it won't be out till the weekend, EB said April 12th. There are reviews of this game on IGN, gamespot, and a few other sites.
Gamespot gave it an 8.5.

Yeah, I saw that earlier today. They said performance was ok if you had a nice computer, and the only glitches were a few quirks in the sound every now and then. I think I can deal with that lol, I think I'm going to get it over the weekend.

Every single computer store around me has this game in stock. I even picked up and love playing it.

Specs are in my sig. Performance is great with all settings maxed out (Although, for some reason it does dip down to 20-30 FPS at this one area in "The Kingdom"). I play the game at 1920x1200 and I'm quite surprised that the game actually picked that up and set my resolution for me. Usually it starts off on it's own BS 860x640 res or something and you have to tune everything. 😛

I purchased the game on the 9th if that matters to you. (Also, I have encountered a sound glitch once, but it was hardly noticeable and it went away after a load screen.) Enjoy the game if you get it. ^^

Awesome, thanks for the performance report, makes me feel a lot better. I'm just not too keen on having another Crysis sitting around if you know what I mean lol.

Cheers :)

This is the ONE thing I see as a positive for console titles being ported to PC instead of the other way around, it will more than likely perform well since the graphics engine was designed for console hardware.

I just picked this game up friday and I am really enjoying it. The controls take a little getting used to, if your used to playing FPS games, and more recently hack and slash oblivion. I was rather confused at the customize control screen wondering where the block, and attack buttons were. I had to do the tutorial before setting my controls so i could understand what everything does. At first the controls seemed daunting, but I was quick to get used to it. As far as performance runs falwless on my e6750, 2gb ram, 8800gt system at max. Overall this game is just a blast. I like the free roaming ability, finding new and interesting ways to kill people. Story is good.

As far as negatives (mind you i havent finished the game yet) The Ive done 4 assasinations, and I can see that they are going to be repetative. Not the target assasinee part, that has been a little different, but basically the information gathering parts leading up to the assasination, are the same types of quests.

Next, once you get the controls down this game becomes pretty effortless (I mean I guess it makes sense you are supposed to be the most badass killer of the 12th century.) I really dont find blending in and stealth very necessary, as anythign that comes after me will be dealt with, without mercy (I find it more fun that way). Basically once you learn the counter attack ability, you have basically aquired the ability to kill multiple attackers with relative ease (but damn those counter attacks are some of the coolest death scenes in the game) for example with the short blade upon counter attack Altair stabs the guy in the foot pulls the blade up his body and slashes his throat.

Anyway as you can see even talking about the shortcomings, I cant get away from the good, dont let those things deter you from what is a very fun game.

Back to the good, the animations and graphics are amazing. Most every thing is really fluid. Especially the fights which adds alot more realism to the game, especially when your used to most games involving sword fighting being anything but fluid and smooth, but more jerky and unrealistic looking.
Altair can also, compete with spider man as far as scaling buildings is concerned.

Overall a great game, it has its short comings, but just a really fun experience.
