I have the Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard Rev. 1.04. Has anyone ran a 400 FSB CPU on this board? I know the 2.0 boards run without a hitch, but I was wondering if the 1.04 boards run fine. According to Asus, I can run the 400 FSB as long as I flash to the newest BIOS. Also, in Asus Probe I see that it has an option for CPU temperature threshold. I have it set at 60 C. My CPU usually runs at 40 C idle and 48 C load. Will Asus Probe shut my computer down if the temp gets too high? Lets say the heatsink fan dies, will the computer automatically shut down, or will it burn to death? Thanks.

It should shut it down if it get's past 60c which it won't. Your fan will not stop spinning unless you unplug it, and if Asus proble shuts it down then the system is down. No harm would ensue. Your temps are ok. Yes you can get 400+ FSB by flashing. As always flashing carries a certain risk - but you know that. if your not familiar w/dos use winflash and never be OC'ed in any way when flashing. Still 1.04 is not as stable with higher FSB as later revisions (2.0) of course. But it can be done - and some of that stability is attributable to user tweaking experience and ram used.
