I have an ASUS A8N-SLI board With the 939 Amd 4200 with 2 GB ddr400 Ram and a Nvidia 6600gt. Looking to upgrade to a new video card and am kinda lost here. I need to make sure to pick a card to work and have been looking at newegg trying to find the best one. First off can I not run PCI-E 2.0? I was looking at a EVGA 8800gt but I think its 2.0. Any help in the right direction would help a ton. Thanks in advance.

I have an ASUS A8N-SLI mobo that's been sitting on my shelf or a few years. I've built several machines since buying it and had just about forgotten I had it. I bought an AMD Athlon 64 Socket 939 processor and 4 1gb sticks of DDR-400. The board doesn't have on-board video o I installed an ASUS EN8400GS 512 DDR2 PCIe 2.0 16x video card. When I powered it up for the 1st time, I got no graphics, just a beep code. 1 long beep & 2 short beeps. I looked up the codes & the only thing it indicated was an issue with the video. I was told by a tech in a local shop that a 2.0 card wouldn't work in a 1.0 slot. All of the cards I've been able to find so far are low profile 1.0 x16. Tiger Direct had one but it was sold out. Does anyone know where I can get a high profile PCIe 1.0 x16 card that will work on this board.

That was in the manual and I did that, too.
There's also a "patent pending" card that needs to be in the correct position when using dual video cards.
Thanks.

Well, I guess I'll try another processor & if that doesn't work I'll pitch the board and buy something newer.
Thanks all.
