ASUS FX5700 and DELL 2005fpw cant get nat res to work on DVI

I've read online that people hook up this GPU to their 20" WS LCD via DVI-D i try it and i cannot duplicate the results so i emailed NVIDIA about it and this is what they have to say

We could not reproduce this problem with eVGA GeForce 5700LE using driver 81.98. It uses the same NVIDIA GPU as your ASUS card onthe same LCD panel. 1680x1050 works fine without adding any custom resolution. Please test another DVI cable or contact your card manufacturer ASUS for support.

so i searched asus' forum and there was one user who had the same problem and i am guessing that forum is not frequented cuz there's like no mod and no reply to her post. anyone with a solution please tell me there is i will heart you (if you are female)

Sounds more like you dont have the correct display adapter driver.

With out it windows does not know what your monitor is and will not display your native or even show you native resolution.

thanks for the reply but i have that driver already

here is what happens

i go to change the resolution on the DVI input to 1680 and the monitor just goes to sleep i cant run 16:9 ratios either. i plug in the D-Sub i can run just about any resolution up to 1680 :-

in settings though it says my DVI is analog and VGA is digital?

windows does show the right resolution for it but the monitor just shuts off everytime it tries to switch on dvi no problems on VGA could it be bad monitor?

on second thought i did hook up a geforce 6150 to it and it ran the resolution fine

Are you uninstalling the old drivers when you are changing the cards?
I would try http://www.drivercleaner.net/ then reinstall the newest nvidia forceware(84.21). I dont think you card support has ended yet with the newest version.
I have used the my 2005fpw on my 7800gtx / 6600gt / 4800ti and havent had any problems with displaying the correct resolution of 1680 x 1050.

no the 6150 is integrated on the nforce 430 board which is a different system. i tried it back when i first got the monitor to see if it was the monitor was bad. i ll try a format soon just all these test are kickin my butt

Have you tried the driver cleaner and reinstall the newest drivers???

I have the same problem with the ASUS FX5700, my monitor is ViewSonic VX2025wm. It's fine with analog input at all supported resolution, but can only set max 1280x720 with DVI, seems 1680x1050 is too high for the graphic card. Haven't found solution yet. Could anyone here help? Thanks in advance.
