I'm running Win 10 on an Intel i7-7700 ASUS Mobo and the ASUS GTX 1080 ti grafix card. At present, I am using a 32" 1920x1080 monitor, which works fine, but want to move up to a 43" 4K monitor. My main use for this gaming-only machine is MSFS2020 and DCS World, both power-hungry sims. And maybe some war-gaming on Steam. Is this going to work or not? Or will I have to drop back to a lower res to make things happy?

Simple enough? Hope so.

Solution
you will get very low fps with a 1080 Ti @ 3840x2160p with even decent settings.
at least an RTX 3080 is recommended for quality 4K gaming.

i ran a GTX 1080 Ti @ 3440x1440p and with most modern AAA games it could handle a mix of low-high settings and usually get between ~50-65fps.
and you've got a lot higher pixel count with 3840x2160.

Thank you, John! Just what I needed to know, before I wasted money on a brand new 43" monitor ($2K). And I really liked the curved screens, so it looks like I can get a refurbished Samsung gaming monitor for less than $300. You've saved me a bunch of money! And I do need that!
