i've been at this for entirely too many years and ASUS has been my personal preference for most of that time. i've got a lot of boxes running ASUS boards including a ten-year-old P3 on the famous old CUSL2 "Black Pearl". the last ASUS board i bought was the P5B Deluxe for an E6600 build and while it has worked relatively well, it hasn't been entirely without headaches. in addition to that, i've seen a great deal more failed ASUS kit lately and with all of the quality concerns floating about, i've pretty much switched to Gigabyte for my motherboards these days. right now, i think they're about the best available. i'm sure that'll change too.

I am thourly impressed by Asus. My first experience was with the P3V4x motherboard. This was back in the day... wait this was a decade ago. The only bad experience I had with them was when AMD first put out the MP processors, I had the board fail on me 3x in 5 months. But all my other boards have lasted years. The price was a steel to the only competitor from Tyan made it look like Asus would be the true winner. I ended up selling this MP system after 3rd replacement from Asus. I have been very pleased with their customer-care and customer support, and the quality of their boards. I've had a total of 12 different models of motherboards.

My latest build is with the P5Q3 Deluxe With Wifi-N, with so many feature that boggle my mind. I have always looked for Asus' Deluxe models, and I am very impressed by their overclock ability, stability, and quality of components, and features. Probably what is one of the best features of this company is talking to a very knowledgeable customer service representative for when you do have a problem, they are very good at solving the problem, and yes they speak good English!!! I've had some bad experience especially with manufactures such as Soyo, MSI, and AS-Rock.

There is so much more I would like to say about Asus, but I don't want to vent to much air. I find thier product 100% kick ass. Especially the P5Q line deluxe atm.

Nowadays Mobos from Asus are rock solid...95% off the time... but when the A8N SLI(Loosing bios definitions, HDD corruption, Raid problems...no boot with 2 sticks of memory,,,so on...)started to apear... The P4C/P800 was also a adventure. if it didnt failed in the first 48 hours it was a board for life... my god... i never had so many boards that didnt power up... i prefer Gigabyte. only saw one failing... it was a 845i i think. USB shorted and killed the board. as for asus the value segment is very good. as for latest and greatest i have to say that they suck big time. more RMA's for mobos in 200€ class that i can imagine... although Matsonic was worse back in the days or maybe PCChips(GFXPro 133)...😉 today i work with the P5XXX models for Office boxes... G31/G33 and can say that i hadnt had a problem. The P5K Deluxe/WIFI is a great board but if you want to RAID forget it(way slower than Gigabyte or MSI). only but problems... i had to change it to a P45 from MSI. i dont recall the model but was one with a NB heatsink that looks like a carrossel(that is a nice board indeed. good all around). General idea is that they had a rough time with big time RMA's an DOA's but now they are stepping up the quality and i have to say that they are getting better by the day. as for VGA's and other stuff it's been ok. no probs... they dont really make the vga's most of the time...
