Hi All,

All I want to know is if an ASUS Maximus III Formula with run with 2133MHz C9 EVO ONE 8GB (4x2GB) DUAL CHANNEL Ram.

Apparently I'm building the ultimate computer as I have not seen anyone with the following setup:

CPU: Intel Core i7-860 2.8GHz (O.C:4GHz) | Model#:BX80605I7860

Website: http://processorfinder.intel.com/Details.aspx?sSpec=SLBJJ

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus III Formula Intel P55 Chipset | Model#:Maximus III Formula

Website: http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P [...] templete=2

Memory: GeIL EVO ONE 8GB(4x2GB) DDR3 2133MHz | Model#:GE38GB2133C9QC

Website: http://www.geil.com.tw/products/show/id/190

GPU: 2x BFG GeForce GTX 285 OCFUBE 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 | Model#:BFGEGTX2851024OCFUBE

Website: http://www.bfgtech.com/bfgegtx2851024ocfube.aspx

HDD: 5x Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB 10000 RPM | Model#:WD3000HLFS

Website: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=494

Cooling: ZALMAN CNPS10X Extreme 120mm | Model#:CNPS10X Extreme

Website: http://zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=350

The memory link is the 4GB set. They don't have any info online on the 8GB set yet I called! Its coming soon! and yes I did ask about the compatibility... they didn't know.

Thanks for all your help!!

Thanks for the reply,

I know that, but what I want to know is if the ram runs with the board with out any issues...

Two Years ago I bought an Asus board that did not like GeIL or G.Skill Ram, so I had to pay a resocking fee twice.. n went for corsair instead, this I want to Avoid!

ditch the veloraptors and go 2 SSD's ,

any reason you want that fast a memory? it might make the computer 2-4% faster than ddr3-1600 at most

Zalman's are overrated... I own 2 .

I'd prob hold off on dropping that much on 2 285's thats old tech

I'm sure nvidia will have something out about a month after the 5xxx series from ati.

Prob be faster than 2 of those and cheaper.

If you are going to spend that much money why not go i7 920 and get triple channel ram etc? also socket 1366 will run 6core processors when they come out

so to answer your question.. no you arent building the ultimate pc

you are building a wasteful throw 2000$ at random parts and something faster could
be built in a month for half the price.

Thanks for the feedback Rand_79,

I went to a great little shop i found that does gaming builds and they said roughly what you said... i didnt realise the 1366 is x16 Tri SLI .

so i bought a system there, it is crazy fast, i went with a SSD for the OS and 2 Raptors for other apps, n stuff, i did get the GTX285 but a cheaper version and they showed me how to overclock it to the specs of the more expensive one, they also said that the GTX8285's will support DX11 with a patch..

i got the i7 920 with 3 2gb 1600 mhz dominators. so it is a weapon now :p does everything i want it to do lol

Rand,

you say that, in a month, something faster can be built at half the price. Obviously, you must have something in mind. Could you fill me in, please?

thanks,

John
