Just built the following:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775
ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP LGA 775 Intel P965 Express
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro (cpu fan)
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
COOLMAX CW-650T EPS12V 650W Aluminum ATX v2.01
Sapphire ATI x1900xt 512mb video card (already own)
Cooler Master Centurion 5 case (already own)

My problem seems to be memory related. If I install both of my sticks of memory and power on the computer I get no post at all, not a beep and nothing shows up on screen. When I pull a stick out and try to boot up it boots up just fine. I have installed the 2 sticks of memory in the 2 different channels A and B and tried other things but for some reason, no boot up when both are installed. Can anyone help me out here?

Also another problem i'm now having when installing windows is that during windows installation it's telling me I don't have a hard drive connected when I do, I can see it in the bios. What would I need to enable in bios to make this work? I'm using a 74gb raptor drive with a standard no frills sata connection.

Thank you.

I had a similar problem with OCZ sticks although mine didnt work at all.I upgraded from 2x512 to 2x1GB and couldnt boot.Tried all combinations but nothing. So i returned the sticks and got another pair of the same version which worked.Did you set the correct voltage for RAM?If not put the working stick in and change the voltage.Maybe it helps. But anyway i think P5B doesnt like 1GB sticks much.Newer bios revisions didnt solve anything. You may notice your bios changes are real slow with 1GB sticks.I think ASUS has something to do about it.

with the one stick boot up and set your memory voltage to 2.2volts save and reboot into windows.
shut down and install the ram in both yellow slots. or both black.
If you can then boot update your Bios to at least 0804.
that ram should run 4-4-4-12 @ 2.2 volts Some run 4-3-3
in the Advanced menu under on board device config set jmicron controller mode to IDE

Where exactly would I change the memory voltage? I'm kinda new to overclocking/voltage.

How do I change the vcore on this mobo's bios? I'm under Power and then under Vcore it's saying the Vcore voltage is only 1.296v but will only let me change it to ignore.
-----------------------------------------
Ok found it finally. Checking this out. There was an option to change it to 2.10, 2.15 or 2.25 (not 2.2v) so i'm trying 2.1v first since newegg shows advertises it at 2.1

Ok, didn't work with 2.10v. Just tried the 2.25v setting and it actually booted up this time but at start up I received the following message:

intel cpu ucode loading error

So now i'm going to try 2.15v
--------------------------------
I just ended up switching my sticks of ram around just for the heck of it and by itself one of the sticks of ram I haven't been using wouldn't boot up by itself, even in different slots...may have an rma issue on my hands now.
--------------------------------
Well the 2.15v setting didn't work at all with both sticks. I've got a feeling that one stick may be bad? At least i'm able to use the computer with the 1 good stick (or at least that I know works). Should I try running the ram instead of an auto speed setting at 800mhz specifically?

You actually need to be changing vdimm. You sure you didn't change the CPU's voltage?

8O

2.25V straight to the CPU (Vcore = core (CPU) voltage)

Reminds me of that movie where the Russians had Rambo strapped to a metal mattress frame . . .

Good luck

2.15 is fine the board actually only puts out 2.1volts and your increasing the right voltage dont listen to those other posts the cpu max on this board is 1.7

you need to flash your bios but first try to set cpu Vcore to 1.3 volts.
better read that manual better

Ok, didn't realize vcore was associated with the cpu. I'll look for vdimm and give that a shot, still it's weird that one stick by itself and the other doesn't work by itself. I'll put the vcore back to what it was at originally and post back soon if this works or not. I did update my bios last night but it still isn't working.

Ok, looks like I probably did change the right thing last night. I changed the Memory Voltage (i'm guessing this is what you wanted me to change last night) not vcore. So I tried changing the Memory voltage last night from 2.10v, 2.15v and 2.25v and none of those worked. I actually tried to the Memory voltage at 2.25v again with both sticks in the correct slots and got past the initial boot screen but just when it was going to try and load windows it froze on a black screen. The Vcore is already set to 1.3v. What else can I try?

Yes, it looks like this in the bios:

JMicron Sata/Pata Controller [Enabled]
JMicron Controller Mode [IDE]

This is what your talking about correct?

Also when I change the Memory Voltage to 2.10v and put both sticks of ram in I get the initial post beep and then a few seconds later another beep and it freezes at the initial AMI load screen.

yes that's the settings you need.
try to get into windows safe mode and do a system restore.
download memtest86 and boot up with the disk you make to test your memory(both modules)

Well I find it highly unusual that one stick works by itself and the other doesn't i've tried many configurations, both placement and memory voltage and that isn't working either and although this is the recommended ram by asus I think 1 stick is bad. So I ordered the following from newegg:

Kingston HyperX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

This is one of their recommended rams also so hopefully this time i'll get lucky. The corsair I had was too though.

but its still possible , i tried the sticks that didnt work for my P5B Dlx to my bother`s DS3 and one of them worked although the DS3 had it working at 667MHz so i changed them with another pair.

Rashod,

You are on the right track.

If it were a vdimm issue it would not boot (see voltage issues people had initially with the OCZ Gold chips).

The fact that one works and the other does not leads me to beleive that you need to RMA the chip that does not work.
