Hi, recently I upgraded an intel core 2 quad q6600 SLACR to an intel core 2 quad q9550 SLB8V on this motherboard. It was working fine with the q6600 but when I placed the new cpu, the motherboard won't load into bios and doesn't turn on. I did upgrade the BIOS and tried to reset CMOS, nothing worked. I know the cpu is on the supported list so I have no clue where could have gone wrong. I also used another old cpu which was celeron e3400 and it worked, just not the quad q9550.
I know it's an old board already, found out that I had this equipment at home so I thought of reutilizing it.
Could anyone help a newbie? Thanks!

Specs:
Motherboard : Asus P5P43TD
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 SLB8V
Ram: 4x 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz
GPU: GTX 750 TI
PSU: 550W
Storage: SSD 512GB

you will find an E5450 xeon from AliExpress, it's cheap, it's only 80 watts and it goes up more than all the others, you'll just need a mod bios to put in for it to work
I do have it, I already tried it it didnt work, so i thought maybe my board didnt support e5450, so i bought the q9550 because I thought it would work since the board is compatible with it. But i was wrong.

The same problem as q9550, the board doesnt post with the E5450 on it. I thought it was a bios problem since i needed the microcodes but even with the modded bios it didnt boot up.

I appreciate the help, I think imma just give up, i just wanted to revive this old machine with a cpu upgrade. It still works with intel q6600 but not with q9550. Imma stick with q6600 and maybe find a motherboard with LGA 1151 and cpu combo.
once upon a time, years ago, made a lot of these with xeon, your mb is good because it works with ddr3

He should be careful of not getting fake hardware, like I did with my Q9450. Issue was not due to the PSU since the currant was delivering enough power to the parts. In the end I concluded that the CPU's IHS was probably switched that made it to not work. And now I have the Q9550, but I will be getting an E5450 this Christmas or next year.

But I fully say yes to your idea, OP should do this. I even can send a tutorial on how to do the BIOS mod by urself using MMTool (I have the Microcodes from archive.org still left)

With a q6600 even modern browser lags with 100% usage. Unless i use linux. I wanted to take advantage of this gtx 750 ti .
U probably were sold fake hardware. Same sh?* happened to me. I got a Q9450 from Ali, but I was able to post, but the CPU specs were messed AF. So I got refunded and got one from AliExpress from a great reputation store and it worked.

I suggest JS-XCY store and CPU Wholesale Store

What are the chances, I bought cpu twice, and both times they were not working. One xeon E5450 and one Q9550.

How do you even check if the hardware is fake? But guess what, i bought my q9550 from that exact store, JS-XCY.

Chances tend to be high if the seller has a high review but not many bought out processors. Then those are possibly bot reviews. You might have fake hardware. Maybe clean the whole processor by brushing it with some 99% isopropyl alcohol? Or clean the socket as a last resort? It could be the CPU issue. Because I had the same thing too except for me I booted into Windows 8.1 Pro. Then after it did not work, I put my old E6750 in and everything worked flawlessly.

I did try that, but for some reason the MMTool had a weird layout on windows 10 that didnt let me add entries (hidden UI) to the cpu patch table.

It must be the cpu issue, because the pc works fine with the cpu i had and old cpus for lga 775 I have at home. I find it weird why a q9550 wouldnt work on this motherboard since it is supported.
