Hello,

I'm new to the forums and am going crazy with the problems I'm having. Any help would be most appreciated.

I have a computer I built two years ago, first one ever, using the P7P55D-E LX motherboard. I had a 1TB Western Digital HDD and decided to add a Mushkin 120 GB SSD with a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate. I have it hooked up to the 6GB/s Marvell SATA port.

Everything seemed to be going fine, and I have installed all the drivers from the disc that came with the motherboard. After installing all the drivers and doing any restarts needed, I still did not have internet access. I looked in device manager and it says the Realtek controller is there and that everything is working correctly (no exclamation point saying anything is wrong). I thought maybe I needed some updates so I tried to install the ASUS update program and my system got the BSOD.

After restarting, I still do not have internet and if I try to install anymore programs from that disc, or the folder of the files I put on my computer, I get an error with some nonsensical characters and then after hitting OK I get another message saying "No Asus motherboard detected. Installation will be abooted now" (yes, abooted).

So basically I have two problems and they must be related: BSOD when installed programs and no internet.

No other components have been messed with, computer was working as of yesterday with the HDD I had, so I know it isn't a RAM problem or whatever.

Hi rolli59, thank you for responding. The Realtek LAN is enabled in the BIOS.
I also forgot to mention in my post that the Marvell SATA port is setup in ACHI mode. Also my BIOS is updated.
Please ask if you have anymore questions, I know my way around the BIOS for the most part but I may not know for sure what all is relevant.

HI Smorizio,

I downloaded each driver and installed them as you said and nothing has changed.
I don't understand why device manager says everything in my computer is working properly, including the ethernet card, when it clearly is not.
It does seem like there is a good chance something is wrong with the motherboard, but I just don't know what I could have done to it by just attaching an SSD after it has been working for 2 years now.

if windows says the port is fine..look at the port and see if the led lights are on. one light will be for when there is a cable installed into the port. the other led when there a link and connection. most times the little tab breaks off the net cable and the cable looks like it in but it not or the cable goes bad...break. also check if your using a router or cable modem that the port on the router on modem is working. if you do have a router see if you can log onto it.that tell you your port is sending packets. if the port is dead..check in the bios that says onboard devices..that there all on. if they are it might be just bad luck the port died on you. i would then just replace it with a new nic card.

So after doing everything that's been recommended to me, nothing helped. And then yesterday evening I turned the computer on (it had been restarted multiple times prior to this after installing drivers and the like) and everything is working fine, no problems at all. I have installed more programs and such and still everything is running fine, internet speed and hard drive transfer speeds all seem fine. I have no idea what changed, I didn't do anything, so I'm not sure what to say was the problem. Obviously I don't like the idea that it just suddenly worked, makes me wonder if the mobo is actually going bad and is just sort of going to fail sometime soon, and it's just happening to work for now.
Either way thank you very much for your help, I assume the drivers had to have helped.
