So long story short I plan to update to a 5900x but my current pc is having issues so I ordered a 3000g to go with the new mobo and ram I already have to tide me over in the mean time.

I assumed it would be compatible being a fairly recent cpu with the same socket.

Having just built the PC it refuses to boot and stays on a red cpu light. Having checked the Asus support page it doesn't actually list the 3000g (but literally every cpu either side of it).

Have I just gone and bought an incompatible cpu or do I have a doa cpu/mobo? I've done all the usual trouble shooting (unplug everything and boot with minimum, reseat etc) and nothing has worked.

Ah ffs. Thanks for the info, people complain about Intel changing sockets all the time but at least you don't run into this sort of crap. Same socket but incompatible, ridiculous.
