Question ASUS Prime Z790-P additional memory POST failure.

I have two 36g DDR5 sticks, I bought an additional 2 X 36g, exact same sticks as the original. If I POST in safe mode it takes a while but I can get to the BIOS and the BIOS see's the new ram correctly but it not boot in normal mode.

There is a closed post with someone having the same issue on the same MB, the resolution was to remove the CMOS battery and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. I cant find the battery and manual makes no mention of it.

To best of my knowledge it a perfect match for what shipped with the PC. Looks identical

a kit get tested together. 2 different kit don't
try setting the memory profile manually in bios

It's not the same memory unless it came in a pack of 4 sticks. It could even be made with different parts.

You have a clear CMOS header on the board that will do the same thing as removing the battery.

Thanks Zerk, I found the instructions today. I searched the instructions before but somehow missed it until this morning. 128 gigs! Now I can run all 15 of my VMs at once...
