Question ASUS ROG Strix B450-I M.2 Heatsink Pins Necessary(?)

Hello all, are the pins on this SSD heatsink for the Asus ROG Strix B450-I entirely necessary? What exactly do they connect to? Obviously if they are then of course one is missing. Thanks for your help.

it´s an LED connector, so the heatsink get light up, nothing necessary
