Hello everyone,

Two days ago, I've built my new desktop PC with the following configuration:
  • Asus TUF X570-Pro (WiFi)
  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • 4x8GB G-Skill Trident Z RGB
  • Zotac Nvidia RTX 3070
  • Cooler Master Masterliquid 360
  • 512GB M.2. SSD
  • 2TB Seagate HDD 7200rpm
  • Gigabyte P750GM 80 Plus Gold 750W Modular
  • NZXT h710i case
After building the PC, I updated the Bios via USB in order to get it up to date for the new processor, as recommended by Asus. My surprise was that once I turned it on, the PC didn't fully start. I wasn't able to see the Bios screen on my monitor, all I saw was a black screen as if the monitor was switched off, but it did detect signal since when I unplugged the HDMI cable from the GPU (this processor has not integrated graphics) it then said signal not detected.
All RGB lights from memory and liquid cooler lighted up, the GPU as well, and all fans were working properly.

The motherboard has four lights: orange (RAM), red (CPU), white (VGA/Screen connection), green (boot). Once the four lights have passed, the computer fully starts. Ok, so my motherboard keeps within a loop in the three first ones (orange, red, and white).

Yesterday, for no apparent reason, the system fully started, being able to install Windows, configure everything, installing some programs, and playing some games. I thought it maybe was a weird issue but that it was solved (I plugged correctly all cables before since some of them were not properly connected to all the pins). Nevertheless, this morning, the same issue happened, and I haven't been able to use my computer again (when this happens, I am not even able to get inside the bios as it does not reach the boot step (light)).

So far, I have checked all the connections, tested with only one RAM module at a time, unplugging all not necessary connections, the GPU... Also resetting the bios and reinstalling the latest firmware, as well as resetting the CMOS by removing the motherboard battery. Nothing seems to work.
I genuinely think that most of the components are ok, as the PC was working fine yesterday (I even ran some benchmarks and no weird behavior). I think that the PSU is not a problem since all the components inside the case lighten up and work, nor the memory, which I have tested in another desktop computer, etc.
I don't know what else to try, so I am looking for some new ideas, or to know if I should replace my motherboard with another one.

You can check the behavior in the following link:

Thank you in advanced

Solution
There are multiple generations of Ryzen 5. Not all generations are compatible with all motherboard chipsets and models with or without BIOS update. Yours is, with an update, but not without. I suspect your BIOS flash is not happening correctly.

Maybe try a different flash drive or re-download the BIOS file and try it again.
Try flashing the BIOS again, and if that fails to work then I'd recommend you pull the CPU to check for bent pins. If there are no bent pins, then it sounds to me like a motherboard issue but you might want to definitely bench the whole thing before trying to RMA the board.

I am going to try with a different USB drive and see what happens. I checked the CPU already, forgot to mention, and it doesn't seem to have any pin bent or broken. It fitted smoothly in the motherboard.

I flashed the BIOS again; nothing. I have even tested connecting the computer to different plugs and to a different screen to see if it worked, but nothing seems to make it properly start. I think I will try to get a motherboard replacement, or maybe get a different one since maybe getting the same one will be prone to the same error.

Hi again.

I have received a new motherboard, same model, Asus Tuf x570 Pro Wi-Fi. I am still having the same issue, so I don't think the motherboard was the real problem now. Any idea about the behavior of the lights I aforementioned?

Make sure you are using an older gen 2 USB drive. Can’t read off of gen 3
I use USB 3.0 drives ALL THE TIME for EVERYTHING, and there is never any problem on modern platforms. Maybe on very old platforms, but not on anything released in the last five years, at least. Besides which, it seems to be an intermittent problem of some kind as he is able to access the system some of the time and not at other times. That would pretty much rule out it being any kind of generational issue with any drives involved, not that it was likely anyhow. I have seen what you are talking about before, in the past, but in the distant past.

Well, anyway, I have been using a usb 2.0 the whole time, so I don’t think that’s the problem. I think that either there is some kind of problem when flashing the bios and it doesn’t work correctly (or bios incompatibility, but that would be weird since this is the last version and Ryzen series 5 is compatible since some previous ones) or maybe the processor is the cause. I checked the processor before and it doesn’t seem to have any broken or bent pin, no scratches... Either the thermal paste is causing this behavior (which would be quite weird in my opinion) or I don’t know at all.
