Asus VS278Q-P vs BenQ RL2755HM

Looking to buy a 27" monitor for my custom gaming PC.

I am currently using my 50" Panasonic TV until I get a new monitor. I am not wanting to spend more than $300. I am fine with 1080p but I want a good balance of refresh rate and response time. I've narrowed it down to two.

ASUS VS278Q-P 27"
or
Benq RL2755HM 27"

They both have 1ms gtg and 60hz but the benq is $40 more and has more features.

I play mostly FPSs and action rpgs so I don't know if response time is more important than refresh rate.

Any suggestions?

In FPS, response time is important, however refresh rates are also equally important. Both normally go hand in hand however, so you aren't likely to find a 144Hz monitor with a bad response time. For FPS games, it is generally: 144Hz Monitor > 60Hz monitor with 1-3ms response time > 60Hz monitor with 4+ms response time.

Your best bet is to go for a 60Hz monitor with a good response time, since cheaper 144Hz monitors tend to have poor colour reproduction and poor contrast, not to mention placing extra strain on the GPU, so you may experience lower FPS and stuttering, something that would be less of a problem with a 60Hz monitor. I personally recommend going for the Benq, since that monitor has got excellent reviews, while the ASUS seems to have poor viewing vertical viewing angles, and poor image quality.

I started out with the Benq but sent it back. The colors were not that good and calibrating the thing was terrible. I spent hours trying things on the net and what not and still had a better picture on my 42 " TV.

But I did switch to the Asus and while not perfect, it is hands down better than the Benq. As a point of reference, it has nearly 5000 reviews on Amazon and 4.5 stars.
