[SOLVED] Asus X551CA Ram Upgrade & capacity

I have read into this laptop that was given to me & I put a ssd into it & a high capacity battery, I didn't take it fully apart to see if the Ram is upgrade-able but I have read conflicting info on this laptop.. 2 of the screws got striped which I will have to deal with but that a different story.. I read that there is 1 soldered 4gb stick & a slot for another... Is htis true?

second question, is if I put 8gb stick into the slot running it at 12gb will the i3 inside even register it, again this is conflicting info on this laptop it says that it can only utilize up to 10gb which I really never heard of before... please if you know anything about this laptop series let me know thank you in advance.

From what I can see, there are motherboards that do have and do not have the socket. You would have to open it up to see. But if it does have it, you should be fine adding an 8GB stick.
