Hello!

I was planning on buying a new soundcard, yes; the Asus Xonar DX.
My problem is that i use two graphic cards (in crossfire) and that, i believe, takes much juice out of my power supply.
The Asus Xonar DX needs additional power (4pin i guess) and i dont know if my system will be able to handle that cause i have ABSOLUTELY no idea how much that sound card needs (googled for hours)...

I've calculated on a website (http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine) that when in almost full load my system needs about 572 watts. Which is only 28 less then i have.

So here is my question.. How many watt's does a sound card like that need? And will it work with my system?

Here are my specs:
Power Supply: OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ600MXSP 600W ATX12V V2.2
Mobo: A790GXH/128M
CPU: Phenom II x4 955 3.2 BE
RAM: 4GB OCZ Gold edition DDR3
GFX: 2x Gainward 4850 [fabric overvlock]
HDD: 500gb regular Samsung SATA
Drive: LG multi disc cd/dvd
Extra: one 120mm fan for the gpx's, one 80mm fan, and one Freezer XTREME CPU cooler.

According to the Techreport Xonar DX Review, it is only going to draw about 10w more than the onboard codec.

Also, you are far overestimating your power consumption.
Using the specs you provide, the eXtreme PSU Calculator recommends a 400w PSU, including the sound card.
You will defiantly be fine with your 600w OCZ PSU.

That is due to the PLX PCI => PCIe bridge not passing the power through it.
Its sister card, the PCI Xonar D1, is virtually identical, only lacking the PLX bridge, and requires no external power.

It is not all bad though.
Power directly from the PSU is cleaner and could give you a slightly better sounding output.
This is also the reason most of the high end Xonar cards require external power.
