i need serious help guys. Two usb 3.0 ports that are just below usb 2.0 port on my Asus z97 pro are not working. I don't know what's wrong. need help

Check this out please. Get the manual. Check out page ix - specifically: "Expansion slots" and the two *'s:
* "The PCIe x16_3 slot shares bandwith with USB3_E12 and PCIe x1_4. The PCIe x16_3 is default at x1 mode.
** "The PCIe x1_2 slot shares bandwith with PCIe x1_3. The PCIe x1_2 is default disabled."

Then go to page 3-44 "PCI-EX16_3 Slot(black) Bandwidth [Auto]" <-- In the BIOS ensure that it's on AUTO! If you set it you need to read the 'consequences'
[Auto] = Run at X1 mode for system resource fexibility with USB3_E12 and PCI-EX1_4 enabled.
[X2 Mode] = Run at X2 mode for system resource optimization with USB3_E12 endabled.
[X4 Mode] = Run at X4 mode for high performance support with USB3_E12 and PCI-EX1_4 disabled.
The above should be interpreted as if you enable this "x4 mode" then you will disable USB3_E12 & PCI-EX1_4!!! SEE END

Now on the next page (3-45):
"PCI-EX1_2 and X1_3 Slot(black) Configuration [PCI-EX1_3 slot]
[PCI-EX1_2] Switch to PCI-EX1_2 for add-on cards with PCI-EX1_3 disabled.
[PCI-EX1_3] Switch to PCI-EX1_3 for add-on cards with PCI-EX1_2 disabled.

To clarify:
USB3_E12 is the rear USB 3.0 ports!
PCIe x16_3 is the large PCI slot furthest away from the CPU.
PCIe x1_4 is the PCI Express slot furthest away from the CPU.
All three of these share bandwidth!

Therefore they're physically linked or multiplexed in some way that they seem to be linked. So now if you look at the 2nd paragraph then you'll see that there can be instances where USB 3.0 Slots at the rear of the motherboard can be disabled and it's through those settings... Because I experienced this myself because I wanted to move my sound card away from the graphics card, but couldn't.

Bro what is the BBS Priority on advanced settings for? I see my ssd is listed in there but not sure what to do about it.

My case is more strange:
I have the ASMEDIA USB controller in the device manager working perfectly.
Turn off the pc several hours and then no longer appears, what the hell?
I removed the PCIe and PCIe x16_3 x1_4, i have tried all kinds of drivers, new and old, and nothing.
ASUS GIVE US A FUCKING SOLUTION¡¡¡¡¡¡ THIS IS INCREDIBLE

I have the same issue except for me the USB 3 ports will work on and off sometimes for months at a time before randomly disconnecting. Then sometimes after rebooting once or twice they will work again for an unknown amount of time. There are some new USB driver updates for my motherboard but when I tried to install them my computer blue screened...

At the end , my MB was defective. I changed it with RMA and now all perfect. Your cause may be the same.

Hello

Just wanted to add to this thread in case it helps anyone:

I just did a build with the Z97-AR, nothing unusual. I7-4790, 2x8GB 1600, OCZ Vector 180 SSD, Windows 7. Installed all of the ASUS drivers from the included disk. All of my USB devices were showing as USB 2. After a BIOS update, same thing.

Called ASUS support, they directed me to new Intel USB3 drivers on the ASUS support page for the Z97-AR. Installed the drivers, reset the BIOS to default (per their recommendation), and then I had working USB 3 ports.
