I am about to buy myself a new vid card, and dont want to spend the money on a 9800 pro, but on ebay ive seen a card as just a plain 9800, but no benchmarks anywhere for it, does this card perform as well as a 9800 pro? performance wise what is a better choice the plain 9800 im about to link to, or a *9700* pro (not 9800 pro dont get confused :p)

Summary: 9800 or 9700 pro?

If you plan on doing any OCing, get the 9800np (non-pro) that you linked to. It has the 2.86ns Samsung memory, which is GREAT for overclocking. Scottchen has one clocked faster than a 9800pro. That card (especially for 202 [will go up, I guarantee it]) is a great buy and one of the few 9800nps with Samsung memory for sale. My advice: GET THAT CARD.

Does the other one have the Samsung memory??

nForce2s are good...I'd recommend getting Abit NF7-_ (_ varies depending on how much you are planning on spending). If you already have the 1800+, keep it, it's good. However, if you are purchasing the 1800+, adding 30ish dollars (at newegg.com, at least) will get you a 2400+, which is a great processor.

If you feel that the 1800 isn't enough (with any upgrade past 2400+, you'll need new RAM (unless you already have PC2700 or PC3200), get the 2500+ (only 90 at newegg) and OC to the 3200+ (use the saved money from the 2800+ and get a different HS/HSF). If you don't want to OC (understandable), the 2800+ is good (you'll need new RAM still).

There are three variants, NF7 (basic), NF7-M (extra features), and NF7-S (full-featured). Base which of those boards you get by which features you need (basic NF7 is quite sufficient, IMO).

No problem, I'm here to help.
