hey glad to report i'm still getting 30 fps in crysis and sadly, only 27 fps in purble place!......facepalm. this is not a joke, i actually just played both to see. but good news is no grey screen.

I have xfx 5770 and hotfix is not working for me. I dont get grey stripes anymore but instead screen goes black and cursor starts to flicker.

Running on a XFX 5870.
Still having the same problem. just takes a while more.
=(

XFX 5870 here.
Still same problem. just loads more flickering and takes more time before it freezes with stripes.

[citation][nom]nukemaster[/nom]Anyone remember black screen freezes/resets on 8800 cards under Vista. Yes over 9 months with no fix(even then it took many drivers for a good fix). I guess both companies suck equally.[/citation]

Don't you love the two party system? As long as you don't appear to be as bad as your competitor, you're good!

Now if only they could actually fix their 5 year old problem with "pixel snow" when you're using a Dual-Link DVI display at 2560x1600 resolution. This problem is on all their cards, HD2xxx, HD3xxx, HD4xxx AND I hear that HD5xxx has the same problem. This is a problem that they even fail to acknowledge.

And please don't reply that you're not having this problem UNLESS you're actually running a 2560x1600 resolution display via a Dual-Link DVI connection.

Since I made new config using i7 860,Gigabayte GA P55-UD5,A-Data 1333,WD 750 Black,Corsair HX 620 on Windows 7 64 bit,I had allot of stability problems with my system. First there was a mouse coursor problem, wich getting bigger all the time.Second:Iphone sync problem-I couldnt getting it connected.Third the grey screen of death doing internet surfing or system going idle.I thought that for the 1st and 3d problem was coused by grapihcs card. Then I realised that it wasnt-at least for me.First two problems was sorted by Bios upgrade to version F6.And finaly the third problem was aslo solved with the Bios fix version F7.Is the problem coused by chipset P55 or by the specific Gigabyte board?Or it was from incopatibility of my components? Any clue?

Chris

[citation][nom]notty22[/nom]With these 5 series problems its clear they rushed the pos to market or just don't care. What doesn't work ? Sound problems ,eyefinity problems, eyefinity/crossfire problems, glitching, stuttering, gray/black screens of death. I'm sure some hard core gamers will be switching to Fermi next month, quietly or not.[/citation]
Wheres Fermi, wasn't it suppose to be release November 09? Guess Nvidia is having some problems getting the "baconator" to work...lol

[citation][nom]filmman03[/nom]wow, if this was nVidia, we would still be waiting for a fix[/citation]

Except nVIDIA releases FULL drivers much more often (per month), than ATi's once-a-month-plus-a-hotfix approach.

You my friend, are a fool.

Wait for hotfix for 5770 graphic card or return to supplier...
What a shit...
I hope hotfix will be soon avaliable...

I do not think I will get this patch, The times i have seen this have always been when I was mucking around in the computer case while it was running. Other then that it has been very stable to watch DVD/Blu-Ray and game.

So far my five day old Sapphire 5750 has been 100% stable (and a lot quieter than my old eVGA 7800GT). Sorry to those who have issues. Hopefully ATi can do something quick here and hopefully my card doesn't suddenly fail from this problem.

aw 5770 users like my 5770 still busted till they fix us 2

reading text in games, as in current Mass Effect 2 which has alot of dialog as part of the game, many times parts of the text will just be black boxes behind the text. The graphics wont be drawn behind it, just black area around the text dialog, which in that games reads across your screen. Can read the text fine that shows up correctly, just draws black boxes behind on the right side area of dialog screens, happens
in some screens not all of the text, I havent detail notic enough yet, if its specific happens in game spefic text spots or its random, havent played the game enough to see if it shows up consistently in specific parts of the game text yet or its random.

The game runs when it does that, hasn't seemed to crash or cause any other noticable issues yet. Only black text border dialogs.

Using Diamond Mutlimedia 5770 / intel core i7-920 / Asus Ramage II Gene / 6gb 3x2 tripple channel mem / patriot torx 256gb ssd - is the basic set up it happens on for me.

Never happend when i was using 4870-512 card, only this newer 1gb 5770, do i see the graphic flaws in game now.

wait...they fixed the patch only to create another problem...this time your video card can be used as a heater... wait it already does that...lol

For those with XFX 5870, which revision and what motherboard chipset and processor? I just got a XFX 5870 rev 1.5, running on a Maximus Formula (X38) C2D E8400@4Ghz and everything is perfect. Not a single issue, no overheat, no noise.... The long game section so far was 8 hours non-stop with Fallout 3.... again no problem or performance issue.

I wonder if it's not an incompatibility issue with certain hardware configurations (memory brand, chipset, etc...). Also I didn't see reports of people who actually replaced (RMAed) their cards for another new 5xxx series to see if the problem was a defective unite or if indeed any 5xxx series regardless of brand/revision gave the same problem (which would confirm the compatibility thesis).

I have a Sapphire Radeon HD4770 512MB DDR5 128-bit HDMI, since i bought it (october 2009) i had all kind of vertical stripes (gray, b-w, green, brown, red once) or monochrome crashes (white, black, gray, blue). Computer dies so i restart it from reset button. I tried 4 different OS, updated drivers, changed catalyst profile etc (allmost all seen on internet). I ve sent unit to service wheer it was tested for a week without results. I will send it again... Most crashes happends when computer is in idle or when i watch movies, but can happend if i DARE to start folding or play wow. Can happend 5 times in a row or only once in 3 days. Four months i loose my time (fun and work) with this broken computer. And if i write to sapphire, look what i receive:
Dear Sir :
This is the Single case , please contact your local retailer to check the card at first.

Thanks.
I changed the stock cpu cooler with a powerfull one, very good temperatures, but.. same problems.
I want only one thing, to know what really is the problem.

I must add to what i said before that if noone else but me face those problems on ATI 4770, then i admit that my vcard is broken (or i m stupid or whatever) and it have ABSOLUTELY no conection with the subject of your article. Is still about 5xxx cards, i feel like an intruder.
