Popular Turkish website Donanimhaber has released an expected schedule for the release of ATI's Radeon HD 6000 series. The first HD 6000 GPU to be released will be the Radeon HD 6700 series, codenamed Barts. The HD 6700 is scheduled for a release as early as October. As suggested by the nomenclature, the HD 6700 will directly replace the HD 5700 series.

The HD 6700 release will be followed up by Cayman in November, expected to be branded as the ATI Radeon HD 6800 series, replacing the current HD 5800 series.

The flagship will be Antilles, and branded as the ATI Radeon HD 6970. Antilles, as expected, will be a dual-GPU Cayman. While the HD 5970 lowers clock speeds from the HD 5870, HD 6970 is expected to feature the same clock speeds as the HD 6870 - basically a HD 6870 in CF. This will be much like the HD 4870 X2. The Radeon HD 6970 is scheduled for December.

only if gas mileage = fun. imagine how more entertaining Top Gear will be if it featured frugal cars each episode..

uh, afaik, you can "throttle" down the graphics options on crysis to get more manageable framerates.

using that analogy again, cod4 must be "richly coded" by more competent programmers then even though crysis offers a more compelling "visual" (not gameplay) experience. (case in point: compare the trees in both games as a simple indicator)

this any-game-that-dont-run-@-max-settings-on-my-rig-is-poorly-coded-because-cod4-can-do-so conundrum is pointless. (cod4 was the occasional example of this "poorly coded" boys)

ps. maybe this time instead of wanting a 10cylinder lambo i'd settle with a hyundai i10 instead. lolerskates.

The 5970 beats the 5870 by about 30-40% generally. The 6870 has been shown to have about 30-35% more bandwidth than the 5870. Therefore, id guess the 6870 would be on par with the 5970. This follows the ATI rules of going from 1 generation to the next for the past few. Add 1000 and subtract 100 for performance compared to the previous generation. 5970=6870, 5770=6670, 5850=6750, and so on.

True, but Nvidia won't get their next round of cards out until mid-2011. Meanwhile, ATI will be selling their 6000 cards like hot cakes. The same thing happend last year, with the 5000 series. If Nvidia doesn't pick up the pace, they will be on the losing end of this battle for years to come.

then by all means why not lower the detail settings? just because a piece of software pushes hardware to its limits DOESN'T MEAN ITS POORLY CODED.

compromise is the better word not optimise. compromise visuals you get better performance, compromise performance you get better visuals.

so if crysis was stuck on "medium" details settings, and the tag "very high" was put on it, without you seeing the actual "high/veryhigh" visuals, that would make you happy? (crysis @ medium settings can run on any system).

that would satisfy a lot of epeen i suppose, but tech-wise that's a fail.

Charlie has a new article out today, VRzone is citing him for some news on the AMD cards. Charlie was wrong with the names, and spends alot of time having trouble admitting that, lol. Its so confusing I won't try to explain it. 5770 replacement , 175-250 card for the end of october, the rest likely next year. Thats 2011.

wtf is all this stuff i hear about ati 6xxx cards coming out in fall 2010 im planning on finally getting my stuff in a few weeks (1-2) and then i read this on multiple sights??

6xxx series in 2010 a myth??

will nvidia counter??

if i bought 1-2 cards in a week and a half and 2weeks later new cards from both sides come out id be pissed.

Not entirely true in regards to nVIDIA, Jaydee. More mainstream Fermi versions are expected sometime soon, rumored to be the GTS 450. It's not a stretch of the imagination to expect their differences to be similar to those of the GTX 460 768MB and 1GB models.

The 6000's release schedule seems fairly believable and has the potential to bring significant improvements (as well as price drops, perhaps?). I wouldn't be surprised if NVidia has a surprise in store, though I have heard nothing of it yet. Perhaps improvements brought by months of manufacturing could result in a full fermi, but only NVidia would know that for sure.

LOL MM. Or even search for that matter?

I tend to just chalk it up to people being overly excited about something.

In regards to the 6000-series, I'll treat it's release similarly to how I treated Fermi's - by pretty much ignoring the vast majority of the early rumor mill stuff, and waiting for statements from the manufacturer. Except after the first press release from AMD, I doubt I'll be LMAO at some wooden PoS.

ATI is coming out early with a direct competitor for the gtx 460. Without trying to look like thats what they are doing. But if the flagship cards 68xx aren't coming out to 2011, thats what they are doing. imo :)
Thats almost 4 months way.
Sept 6-jan 6,2011
But you would think they are out competing against the gtx 470/80 right now ? ATI fans put pressure on themselves, they have to wait for the new better Nvidia killers ! before they buy !

@ wh3resmycar,
You are arguing against yourself. How can you claim that its not bad codeing if you need to turm the settings down ?? :pt1cable:
A modern PC has many times more processing power than a console yet its all needed to crunch through the mess of un optimised code we get feed as Console ports. the big laugh is that Console games get developed on a PC in the fiorst place.
