Popular Turkish website Donanimhaber has released an expected schedule for the release of ATI's Radeon HD 6000 series. The first HD 6000 GPU to be released will be the Radeon HD 6700 series, codenamed Barts. The HD 6700 is scheduled for a release as early as October. As suggested by the nomenclature, the HD 6700 will directly replace the HD 5700 series.

The HD 6700 release will be followed up by Cayman in November, expected to be branded as the ATI Radeon HD 6800 series, replacing the current HD 5800 series.

The flagship will be Antilles, and branded as the ATI Radeon HD 6970. Antilles, as expected, will be a dual-GPU Cayman. While the HD 5970 lowers clock speeds from the HD 5870, HD 6970 is expected to feature the same clock speeds as the HD 6870 - basically a HD 6870 in CF. This will be much like the HD 4870 X2. The Radeon HD 6970 is scheduled for December.

Well rumor has it, actually started by toms itself that these price cuts from NV will only last 3 weeks. Not sure if its true, but perhaps they cant, or dont want to sustain prices like this. We shall see. Although they are sitting on a fat pile of money, but if they cant get Kepler out before 7xxx, which they both seem to come out around the same time, they could be in another world of hurt for a year+.

I really want to see IQ difference. If its just less AA basically, well nice, but not too special, if it looks the same, then its massive.

LOL :) ha ha, I'm not wrong about anything. You notice most reviews were meh ? Nothing bad to say at all, but nothing to exciting , / wHY? because everything they do the gtx 460 was/ IS already doing. They are fine cards, in some games they are 10% faster. And sometimes slower. If your looking for me to join you and scream Nvidia is doomed , forget it.
When you get your 2 6870's , I propose a challenge. We will used various dx11 down-loadable benchmarks and we will compare results with screenshots.
The proof will dictate the WINNER.

That's already been refuted by Nvidia who say the price drops are permanent but I guess we'll see in about three weeks or so.

How many fingers am i holding up? Are you blind? Did you not see benches and pricing. No review was "meh", and if it was, it was becuase they wanted a die shrink new gen like performance.

It's more in-between I think. It won't work with everything but there are some really nice comments being made about it.

Damn Starcraft 2 with MLAA looks awesome and performs mucho mucho AWESOME.

GTA IV looks verys blurry with only MLAA but with ENB Mod's sharpening filter + MLAA it's awesome, also I loose only 2 fps over only ENB settings.

MLAA+SSAAx4 is crazy in Darksiders and very playable too!

Viva Pinata looks fantastic with MLAA

wow...i lost many fps in darksiders with 4xAA morphological...BUT it looks way BETTER

Dead Space looks awesome with MLAA, arguably better than it does using the DarksidersPC AA hack as every edge is smoothed.

cod6 and cod4 are looking better...

AT LAST, AA in Bionic Commando without the need for DX10.

Starcraft II looks awsome last mission is 60fps constant and it looks like 4xaa is enabled LOL

PURE looks good with MLAA

WOW! Just tested Front Mission Evolved. Disbaled 4xAA and enabled MLAA. Is day and night! MLAA makes the game looks AWESOME!

This Morphological filtering technique is amazing! Just what lower resolution monitors need like mine @1440x900... barely any hit on the fps with decent aa application. THis is BIG!

Just tried FIFA 11. Also, looks wonderful (disabled native AA of the game). Will try again with AA + MLAA.So far. Its awesome!

MLAA works 100% in Anno 1404. It looks jaw-dropping ..with the extra fps headroom i can enable post-processing effects now.

Yup that's all from one thread.

Read my post carefully
My whole point is, there are those that tried over and over to say this is the 67xx series
Now, for a card that low, those same (most anyways) wont mention it, as that exposes other cards real relationship to the overall picture, all the while, ignoring the 69xx series

Notty, your are very annoying... Why can't you just accept the fact that the 6850 is better price/performance? I mean seriously. Now your just finding excuses to say that the 460 is cheaper... MIR MIR MIR, that's all you can say... WHO CARES ABOUT MIR.... The Mail in rebate TAKES SO LONG TO COME. And even if it does come, Many companies don't even honor their MIRs. -_- Plus Lets end it now. Say your talking about straight up price, no MIRS.... The 6850 is better price performance. LOOK AT THAT FREAKING CHART TechpowerUp made for price/performance -_-

Yea, right now Nvidia has matched their price/performance to AMD's cards; well, it's close to them at least.

Both have great scaling for dual cards and both are closely matched performance wise. Both also overclock quite well from what I've seen so far. It's basically down to preference of which brand you like better.

Trust me, some people don't like to change from their brand even if the other brand is ahead by a huge margin(though this isn't really a big leap as of yet). My brother wouldn't consider AMD even if they crushed Nvidia with these new cards, I don't understand that at all.

This MLAA stuff is very interesting. Those pics look very good, perhaps even superior to traditional AA although I would like to see some more direct comparisons and benchmarks. If these cards basically have superior and nearly free AA that is simply huge to the degree that the benchmarks we have seen are almost meaningless. Gigantic advantage for AMD if this turns out to be the case.

since when? ati had been kickin nvidia's butt since the 4800s using cod4's engine.

oh btw, i don't know what you guys are arguing about. but imho, modernwarfare2 is an obsolete benchmark. the engine is too dated to begin with it. and most contemporary gpus would tally an above average score.

I doesn't work with everything, in fact is seems to only work with dx9 titles right now (although that could be because it's a hack for 5xxx cards for now).

I think it's very promising and if it's supported then it could become a new standard. The problem is getting anything non-nvidia to become standard.

Yep, called it, i said February at the earliest. Knowing Nvidia it might be an Easter Present though...And i agree with the MLAA argument. It actually does a really good job smoothing things out. Of course they will work on it, it started 3 days ago! But the only problem i see is that AMD will have MLAA for almost no loss in gameplay with a decent amount of AA. Thats huge. However, for one, it has to be accepted, and 2, it has to eventually be sponsored by Nvidia, not them coming out with PLAA. It might put a bigger rift. But its a huge advantage if it works, especially since they get the coding for the next 2 years i believe.
