ATI Radeon 6000 seriers rumor to be released in october

Popular Turkish website Donanimhaber has released an expected schedule for the release of ATI's Radeon HD 6000 series. The first HD 6000 GPU to be released will be the Radeon HD 6700 series, codenamed Barts. The HD 6700 is scheduled for a release as early as October. As suggested by the nomenclature, the HD 6700 will directly replace the HD 5700 series.

The HD 6700 release will be followed up by Cayman in November, expected to be branded as the ATI Radeon HD 6800 series, replacing the current HD 5800 series.

The flagship will be Antilles, and branded as the ATI Radeon HD 6970. Antilles, as expected, will be a dual-GPU Cayman. While the HD 5970 lowers clock speeds from the HD 5870, HD 6970 is expected to feature the same clock speeds as the HD 6870 - basically a HD 6870 in CF. This will be much like the HD 4870 X2. The Radeon HD 6970 is scheduled for December.

So basically with a pretty wide variety of games, the 6850 scales better or at the least as well as the 460. Id say thats a convincing argument, as we all know that fermi had good scaling in the begining, but after drivers became great, so same here.

Thats huge. However, for one, it has to be accepted, and 2, it has to eventually be sponsored by Nvidia, not them coming out with PLAA. It might put a bigger rift. But its a huge advantage if it works, especially since they get the coding for the next 2 years i believe.

MLAA doesn't need nvidia support. both nvidia and ati have a variety of AA techniques at there disposal.

i'm excited to experience MLAA first hand, i wouldn't judge the degradation of image quality on a static scene, but if the difference is minimal to subtle in actual gameplay, then MLAA is mana from heaven.

Some people stick the "they have soo much money" balogna at others, but since their marketshare is dropping, and if this is true, and since their projections for coming quarter were found to be unrealistic, their stock will be bad as well

I really don't understand why everyone is so excited for SB. I looked at the preview, the gaming performance increase over the current CPUs was all clockspeed and I won't spend $400+ to save a few minutes on an encoding.
