While hilarious to see them take it up the pie hole, I dont want them gone either. I've said many times they didnt have what it takes to compete with the likes of NV.
Orton (from SGI) and ArtX did ATI good, but theres apparantly too many Canadians at ATI still. :evil: :wink: You know thats true when your motherboard chipsets are outengineered by ALI.

That's not a "big deal". Companies report losses like this all the time. ATI sold a TON of cards in 2004 and have nothing to compel folks to buy new cards in 2005 sooo they don't sell as many cards this year. Big whoop. I bought an X800XT PE over a year ago and I've seen no compelling reason from either ATI or Nvidia to shell out $500.00 for a new card....

Simple as that.

Evidently you didn't click the clicky. I know it's the Inquirer and they have been known to speculate and give opinions, but they also seem to have their own sense of integrity. I'd be very surprised if they pulled all the numbers and quotes in the linked article out of their collective arse. In fact I'd wager you beer that they wrote the article while looking at an ATi financial report (but I'm not motivated enough to look it up :tongue: ).

Edit: Having said all that I agree that it doesn't seem to be a "crushing" loss, more like a minor setback.

Come on Game I hate the way alot of people love to bash the USA so don't say crap like that about Canadians. As for the report it's bad news for ATI but not a HUGE loss.

AMD has reported plenty of losses in their corporate lifetime... yet they're still around biting Intel in the ass. This 'story' is a non-story.
