Audio Burning Speed Question.

Hi, I am running an Athlon XP2000+, and I have an MSI 48x Cd-Rw. I've knowticed that it takes quite a long time to burn a copy of a cd (using nero) from my Cd-rom drive (34x). Im burning on 40x cd-r's, and it takes about 8-10 minutes to copy a regular sized cd. That is compared to the 2-3 minutes it takes to burn a cd of mp3s from my harddrive. Is it normal for cd-rom to cd-rw to take much longer than harddrive to cd-rw? Im hoping I can figure out how to speed up the process. Thanks.

If you are copying an audio CD, yes then it is normal, since DAE is slower than normal data read.
