Hi all, a friend of mine recruited me to build him a PC mostly for audio editing. Unfortunately, I am better at putting the components together than picking them out - so here's where you all come in!

Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next month.

Budget Range: Less than $500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: **Home recording/Recording using CuBase**, surfing internet, streaming movies

Parts Not Required: Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg

Country of Origin: United States

Parts Preferences: No preference. Though AMD is still generally cheaper as far as processors are concerned, eh?

Overclocking: Not necessary

SLI or Crossfire: Not necessary

Monitor Resolution: Not sure, I think 1024 x 768

Additional Comments: A great sound card - ideally one where a soundboard and 1/4'' cable can be plugged in. I think this is actually where the most money can be spent. He also requested a wireless card.

Thanks for your help everyone!

With your budget you should wait some three weeks for the new Llano CPUs, scheduled in early June. That should save some $$ for the sound card.

As of now:

$364.93 - Tried to leave room for a sound card.

As for the sound card I'm a little rusty on those, last time I know it was the M-AUDIO Audiophile 2496 but that was quite some time ago. I think this is the new one:
