I have a constant red X over my sound icon. I click it and it troubleshoots but, finds nothing wrong. There are no devices present under the playback devices. I think I might need a new audio card but I'm not sure.
Is your motherboard audio disabled in task manager?
Does your motherboard even have a inbuilt sound chip?
Are you plugging your headphones/speakers into the right ports? (pics please)
Hope you find a solution.
I am plugging it and how do I check if it disabled?
Press windows key + x then select Device Manager. Go to Sound, video and game controllers and right click on your sound (e.g realtek high def audio) and click enable if it shows.
Aha! Have you installed drivers for your motherboard's sound? Search up your MOBO's name and go to drivers / downloads and look for a audio driver, or anything that might be for your sound. Also, is your computer a prebuilt or homemade?
Sorry, that's not specific enough. HP pavilion is a series by HP, I need to know which one. Would you happen to have the manual? If not look for stickers on the back that state what number it is.
Sorry this is taking so long, it's a hard question!
