Audio Problems with An8

I’ve had some serious problems getting any soundcard to work on this
m/b. The only card that works is the card that follows with the m/b
when I bought it. I’ve tried finding anything at all about disabling
it with no luck. I’m currently running xp with sp2. Updated the bios
to v1.5.
My current problem is my audiophile 2496 card. I can install it and I
get an error that says "this device cannot start". I’ve tried
reinstalling the audio drivers from the nforce drivers and I’ve tried
both old and new m-audio audiophile 2496 drivers with the same issue.
Any clues?
I got bsod when I used a terratec aureon universe 7.1 card. I’m
getting rather tired of trying to fix this damn issue....

I’ve found some additional info and I need some serious help, I’m not
wiz with settings in the bios.
I’ve found out that the firewire chip on the m/b has issues with
certain soundcards. I’ve also found out that my current soundcard
could have to have an irq at lower than 15. I’ve currently connected
my soundcard in the pci 2 slot. What pci# is that in the bios? there
are like 4 or 5 pci slots to change irq’s on in the bios. I need just
that one

There are only four IRQ signals for PCI: A, B, C, and D. They are
assigned whatever XP wants them to be.

Usually, PCI1 is the first pci slot next to the agp slot. PCI slots
higher than #4, share signals with lower one. See the motherboard
manual for this info.

For the firewire, go in the bios to disable it and see if it cures the
problem.
