Hey all, im wonder if you can help. I have an Aurora R7 have had for a fair few years now. I have upgraded the RAM, PSU, GPU, Hardrive space etc, but the one issue i have always had is it is so noisy. I am just looking to find out if anyone has upgraded the fans on this PC. I have looked online and through my research it looks like my PC maybe should have been water cooled for the CPU, but mine is air cooled. So im just looking to see if anyone has any ideas of what fans i could replace the Original ones with. Thanks :)

is an example on what you can do to your prebuilt. If you have the funds, you should look into Noctua fans. As for your prebuilt, if you have the AIO in your prebuilt, use high static pressure fans.
Thank you, i will watch that now, so i brought a noctua fan for the front fan replacement as apparently that doesnt cause an issue when booting up. I dont have the AIO though, mine is a crazy noisy CPU Fan.
From the research i did do, Dell added loads of fans to a "incompatibility list", im not sure if thats a real thing, im pretty new to PC sets ups ha ha

follow the included fans' cables to their connection point.

how are they connected;
directly to a motherboard 4pin PWM header(s),
to a motherboard 3pin header,
to a fan hub, etc..?

if connected to a fan hub, what sort of connection do they use;
4pin, 3pin, proprietary, etc?
and is the hub connected to the motherboard, to a case button, or only directly to the power supply?

Hey, I will look this evening and see what it looks like. I change the front fan to a noctua nf-p12 fan and that is working fine, but the cpu one is so noisy.

Will get back to you. Thank you for your help

Hey

so i have spent some time looking this morning and i think both the CPU and top fan are 4 pin into the motherboard. Does this help? I have added a couple of pictures, sorry for the dust on it - Hopefully this works

you will also need to measure the fans' locations to find out what sizes will fit.
should be 120mm or 140mm.

for case fans i would use the be quiet! Silent Wings 4 PWM.

for the CPU cooler, it may depend on the specific cooler what fans would be available to use.
i would normally use Noctua iPPC fans.

Hey thank you for that, I have added them to here now

the CPU is 80mm and the top fan is 120

When I have done the research for these though it looks very much like i am very limited as Dell like to make everything incompatible.

I have put a Noctua fan on the front at the bottom and that runs fine, but apparently the top and CPU fan are notorious for bringing up BIOS errors 🙁

I have no issue fitting things, the issue i have is understanding what will potentially work with it. i hope that makes sense

CPU is 80mm
i would be looking to replace this cooler altogether, is a very subpar design for any sort of gaming system.
apparently the top and CPU fan are notorious for bringing up BIOS errors
i don't see how it's possible unless users experiencing this were using the wrong style fans(3pin?) and the board was just giving a generic error for not detecting the pulse width modulation speed control.
put a Noctua fan on the front at the bottom and that runs fine
the front & top fans should both be using a CHA_FAN header which should read the same way.
since the front replacement works fine, i would imagine the top would also.

i would definitely recommend replacing this motherboard, this CPU cooler, and this case with much better options.
