only bad thing about this is my new HSF isnt fully compatible with my MOBO beacuse one of the caps is in the way of where the mounting bracket extends to...

so i had to hacksaw the extra screw hole off the end of the bracket, and also half of the screw hole that was left.. so i have a screw holding the HSF in place by pressure only.. freaks me out to think that theres a 500g piece of copper sitting 6" above my video card waiting to fall

Completely idiotic idea: attach a piece of wire to the heatsink, and fasten it to the top of your case. if your heatsink falls off one day, at least if won't kill the videocard...

All those heatsink falling legend are going to make me go crazy...

Yep, been building for over 7 years, and I had 1 heatsink fall off...during service on a computer I didn't even build. And yes, it fried the processor.

In that same period I've received around a dozen systems where the heatsink retainer broke from the case falling over, and seen 2 graphics card heatsinks that had fallen off.

Heh, sometimes it happenes when people move them. I knocked a computer off a DESK once, it landed in the back edge of the lid and distorted the case!

One time I got mad at my computer and I Kicked it, something broke and the start button popped off too...oh, now I remember, the heatsink on the CPU was making a whole bunch of noise, but when I kicked it, it would stop. But I guess that doesn't work forever, so one day I kicked it really hard..and the above happened. Everything still works though
