Question Backlit Keyboard lighting advice

I had to replace my Iogear GCS1808 KVM. I had a lighted keyboard which had one USB connector for the keyboard, and another for the backlight. I just plugged that into one of my computers and it worked.

My keyboard blew with the KVM, Iogear says it does not supports lights. Are there any keyboards out there (preferable mechanical) which uses the dual USB solution.

you would rather have to use two USB ports than a better designed keyboard that uses an onboard on/off button for the LEDs?

may I ask, why?
