Question Battery detected, stuck on 97% but not working

Hi, I have an Asus laptop, x542u. I opened it up to see if there's place for more storage(there was), I turned it off before doing anything, but when I put it back together and tried to turn it on it just wouldn't. I plugged it to the wall and it works fine, battery detected , shows 97% but doesn't go up. When I unplug the ac it just crashes. I used some battery software, says it 23% degraded and 0 charger/discharge.

I shut the down the computer again, unplugged the battery, replugged it, and still nothing. Battery seems fine, including all of the connectors.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this weird situation?

try removing and reseating the battery. contacts can be offset just a bit which will lead to issues like you've stated.
